32 Spectre real world experience

I may be best off just keeping what we have and using it when the lake is not so stirred up (we have a Formula 370SS for those times). It sounds like going to a 32 just wont gain a ton except for a 6th seat, and moving to a 36 is just too much $$$.

One option maybe that all white 32 skater converted to outboards or look into the Pilini 34 if you can find one much better ride and handles our lake much better. Price point wise it should fall into your range. That will likely be my next outboard cat. I considered a 32 Spectre but know after having a 34 fountain cat I wouldn’t be happy with the smaller boat. We can discuss more over a cocktail sometime.

Does anybody have any real seat time in a 32 Spectre? New ones are quite a bit less than MTI's, Wright Performance, Skater, and Fountain. Other than resale being less down the road, is there any downside? Has the hull been updated over the years? How does it handle rough water (LOTO slop) compared to the others? Just doing some homework. Our 28 Skater is a hot rod and a ton of fun, but our location at LOTO (18MM) means that it sits on the lift allot of weekend days (when we have visitors). Might even look at some late model used 36's.

The original 30' Spectre out ran the 28' Skater most of the time in the rough waters back in the 90's at the offshore boat races. It is a larger sponson boat than the 28'. The 32' was an improvement of the 30', deeper sponsons and the adding of the 5 step bottom. The 32' Spectre power for power is faster then the 30' Spectre. The 32' Spectre is the least porpoising boat in its class and is day and night difference from a 28' Skater. I have a 36' Skater sitting in the shop now and If you put a tape measure on the Skater and one on the Spectre, they are the same width and the same pad. The skater is 1 inch deeper at the back and 1 inch deeper at the apex. Everything else is basically the same. We use as good as materials as anyone else in the industry. Epoxy, infusion, foam core, Coosa, 100% all composite materials in our boats, no wood. The name has been beaten up over the years with the change of so many different owners, but my crew has done a great job at building great boats and keeping the build slots full. I tell anyone looking at a new boat, go visit the shop and go ride in the most current model you can. You don't need a salesperson or internet to make that decision, the boat will sell you on which way to go. Maybe our boat is not for you, but do your homework on the water. Thanks, Todd
