^^ Good luck to them, seems like they have a much broader vision than previous ownerships, a new world I guess, I'm not much on hype and stuff but the journey will be interesting. They certainly have the financial backing which is a huge asset. It'll be interesting to see if any of the other competitors step up their branding and lines.

any business' that sell for big $$$ on low production run capacity, sooner or later the ownership wants a ROI....and the easiest thing to sacrifice is build quality to increase margin. (just my $0.02)....mind you at the price of the Cig Swag, they may not need to sell more boats - just more t-shirts and gear |

Point taken - but if I was buying a Cig right now, my mind would be more at ease with getting the build quality that I am expecting from a previously enjoyed Skip built boat than under current ownership that's seemingly fixated on selling a "lifestyle" to new $$$$. I hope they keep the performance and quality in the build for the sake of the brand's continued longevity....

I don't think it's so much the price of Cig stuff, after all anything Cig is $$, they gotta pay for all those logos somehow, however it's more the silly rhetoric that's come out of the iconic industry brand and now anything is fair game.

Cigarette Racing increased production from 20 to 50 boats in 2021...................hmmmm that doesn't seem to add up to quadrupling sales.
Fans could see Cigarette Racing hypercars and electric vehicles as well as luxury watches with the ubiquitous No. 1 logo...............Yachts/Jet-skis were a stretch but atleast in the water.......electric vehicles?!?!?! Alex is expected to pursue his law degree later this year while running the company................so he can fine tune those partnership/purchase agreements they have been so good at! :D |
Cigarette Lifestyle ?

iconic, not Iconic but you knew that and just want to poke. And if you think they haven't caused a stir with their public stuff then fine for you. The Cig threads haven't gone for pages and pages because they've been quiet.

Why are all the articles/media coverage so self promoting while constantly promoting "BILLIONAIRES" with no actual boats?
Core business is performance boats yet we have heard about yachts/jet skis/t-shirt lines/restoration side businesses/electric vehicles without seeing any new performance boats!?!?! How do you make millions in the performance boat business?.................................Start with billions. So simple math says if you had 1 billion dollars and investing it you got 6% your annual return would be 60 million dollars. Does anyone actually think that CRT would net more than 60mm building 50 boats a year? You would have to NET 1.2mm per boat to get to that level. If you really had 1B net why would you bother with such a niche business to make such little money? Why would you even bother showing up to beat that invested return? I get that they didn't spend the 1B to buy CRT but if you really were that rich you wouldn't even bother with CRT, you would buy a new boat and run the sh1t out of it having fun! Tiger Woods is likely a billionaire..............Do you think he would bother owning CRT? Would he try to build a yacht? No, he bought a 155 ft one and is enjoying it. Lebron James (another almost billionaire) invested 1mm in Blaze Pizza in 2012. His 10% stake is now worth 35-40mm not including the stores he owns. Kobe Bryant invested 8mm in BodyAmour energy drink in 2014...........CocaCola just bought his shares for 400mm. These guys are investors getting crazy returns. They aren't buying boat companies or trying to create lifestyle brands |

How do you rack up a $2,000 dinner tab ? I mean how big are you ? I couldn`t eat and drink that much food in a week much less a night. If you`re fine with paying $90 for a hat then you are quite the baller but also not very smart with your money but good for you. Most people like to get some value out of their hard earned cash not piss it away on overpriced shirts . |

Watch the money spent, follow the tabs, you will see I am not that far off... And as far as boat gas.... SERIOUSLY that is definitely not an exaggeration. I could give two ****s if anyone buys anything, I just find it funny how some prioritize certain costs and lambast others.... Carry on.... |

wow, been working for 5 years already! that says a lot, time will tell 1. How many jobs have you had at places NOT owned by friends and family? 2. Where is the best place to go for Spring Break? (A busy guy would say, not sure I work every spring break!). 3. What is your total lifetime income derived from jobs at places not owned by friends/family? |
He (Alex) also mentioned in the article about crypto/tech millionaires that he expects to be the next generation of buyers for Cigarettes.
That got me thinking about Elon Musk, richest man in the world and I'd bet he would be mortified owning a Cigarette or any offshore boat (burning hundreds of gallons of fuel on every outing). Mark Zuckerberg drives a Honda Fit so lets put him in the "non buyer category" despite his incredible wealth. Can you imagine telling either of them that their Mercury 1100s need rebuilds for 100K after just a couple hundred hours? Performance boats are not eco-friendly and in this changing world not sure Mr CEO is recognizing the trend. These boats were popular for drug smuggling!!!! That business has evolved and makes the boats less relevant. Look at the biggest US market for I/O powerboats...........LOTO! Its not even Miami anymore (though I'd think Miami is a strong CC market). |

This looks like a story from the 80's where Cigarette is sold to new owners and later sold back for way less than previous.

so those are the only 2 people that invest in crypto huh? :picard1:... guess all those same non crypto investors that are purchasing exotic cars and were never pitched "boats" in the same way as an exotic car wont be intrigued? as usual your logic is bupkis,(all emotion and no fact).... there is plenty of money out there for a higher end boat purchase. I don't know if it will work or not, but good on them for trying to target another audience..
1. Hello rack storage, got a slip for a 42?............... nope but we have a wait list 2. Hello CRT- saw your instagram post, yep I want a new 42................well we quadrupled sales, 2 year wait on the boats, 90 days out on the swag though so you can live the lifestyle! :D Can you see the dilemma for a rich guy impulsive buy? Also with Bitcoin 20% off the highs, I'd doubt anyone would be ready to cash out to buy a boat they can't get for months/years. Yet they can go to ebay right now and buy all sorts of exotic cars today and drive them home and park them in their existing garage even if it is in Kansas! Performance boats are generally more restrictive to where/when they can be used. You can buy a 500K car and drive it through NYC today, tomorrow, heck every day this week! New boat, not so much. |

I made a call for 46 and 50s that can be bought and found 4 that are available that aren't listed anywhere. there is inventory for people that have cash.
Remember CEO Alex was promoting to rich tech/crypto types..............do you think those guys would want to represent "used" boats in their role as future lifestyle ambassadors? As far as being impulse buyers............yeah if you have the cash you don't want to wait! How long did it take Elon to buy Twitter for 44 billion? Do you think he would wait more than a month for a new Cig? |
Wonder how many current Cigarette owning OSO members fit the Cigarette Lifestyle demographic young Ruiz described ?

New 2022 models? The comment was about new boats that CRT is building/delivering not used inventory. CRT wouldn't be promoting used boats/past models because they don't make any money on those.

I've said it before, CRT and Harley Davidson have the same issue...........their client base is aging out and the younger generations don't have the interest and/or the income for the product lines. Remember the 90's....... Arnold was in Terminator 2 and suddenly everyone wanted a black fat boy (admittedly that was a cool bike). That was 30+ years ago so if someone was 40 back then they are 70 now and certainly aren't looking for a new HD. Performance boats are the same issue but at a bigger price point. I dropped a car off at a buddy's body shop yesterday. He has owned multiple brand new Fountains (the last 3 were 42's). He owned them for years and the last one probably didn't go 200 hours in 8 years. He still goes to Key West for the races, still goes to local boat shows, still lives in the same waterfront home yet won't buy another go fast boat............he is 73 now! He realized with his last boat he doesn't use them enough and when the same boat is now triple the price it gets harder to justify owning anything despite having more money than ever before! |
In my opinion, I think they are all too expensive. All boats, across the board. I could never justify the cost of a new boat. I'm not a millionaire. I'm a blue collar worker that makes a decent wage and works hard for what the wife and I have. We both do. Hard to justify with our short summers here in Michigan. Which is why we have an older boat. It's paid for and we enjoy the hell out of it. Just my opinion

Why do we keep talking about performance boats? How many performance boats does CIG sell compared to CC's?

I just want you guys to know I recently bought 5 St Patrick's Day t shirts on clearance at The Christmas Tree Shop for $5 each. This is fact. They go in my work clothes pile. Which is mostly other like type tshirts. :)
And this is why I don’t fit into this topic. |

But remember Cigarette is on its way to being a proprietary eponym (when people see rumbling I/O boats they call it a cigarette boat regardless of the actual brand). |

If I was a billionaire, I'd never announce to to anyone and if I built a new plane nobody would hear about it either. |
