The paddle boat was not going in reverse. It was showing it's port side/red light to the NorTech as the paddle boat had the right of way. All the lights on inside of the NorTech definitely contributed to the incident. I don't know how the captain could see a damn thing. I bet they had the stereo cranked and were in full party mode; while following a breadcrumb line on the GPS.

Chinese parts. Russian influence. Dem rules. Just speculation on my behalf. :)

I'm no expert on the workings of a paddle boat propulsion, my knowledge of them comes from Huckleberry Finn, which is now racist... but I do know that probable, possible and maybe are just speculation terms, fact will or wont present themselves and a course of action will or wont be taken... just so many perfect people on here...:picard1:

Does maritime law even have a rule for leaving the scene? How the heck does that work if your boat is sinking? What if you want to beach your boat and get medical attention?

Does leaving the scene have a higher penalty than DUI? How do they prove he was driving the boat? How do they prove his boat WASNT sinking during the panic? To say its better to get to land and asses the damage and injuries rather than sinking and drowning is viable.

lots of speculation and no details and the same loudmouths on here reaching a decision/opinion. looks to me like both captains made a decision to take care of the passengers and get to safe harbor. if the capt of the nortech was drinking, thats his burden to bear. i dont see criminal intent too many questions to assess full blame, the answere may be it was just a simple accident, yet the desire to appoint blame and add a cost to it it too overwhelming... sue used to be a girls name, now its a verb...

Well luckily the local cops were on the case and filed the appropriate charges. Did you notice one of the bond conditions included a "no alcohol" provision? Wonder why? Do you think the probable cause affidavit outlines the reasoning?

Hey if the guy called it in within a few minutes of the crash, then ok he was taking care of his boat/passengers but radio silence (literally) for 2 days means he was "lawyering up" for the inevitable charges/lawsuits. The cops aren't dummies, the have the boat crash video and his drinking videos at the bars/restaurants before the boat ride in the dark. Johhny Cochrane is dead so he won't be able show up and derail the case with a one liner like: If the driver left the wreck, he won't have to write the check!

I didn't consider the bread crumb theory, I figured it was his home lake so he would know it pretty good but your theory would make complete sense.......radio on, boat up on plane, lights blinding everyone.

All he has to say is if the charges don't get dropped the OSO Big Baller Defense Team will come to the rescue and the party barge captain will get jail time.
