From what my brother told me he was the guy that started Baron marine sold molds to guys to start Powerplay/Powerwuest, anyways the guy my brother had working for him ,a few years later talked the Postama brothers that owned Dryland into buying the Cary 50 molds like 1982-83.
He said Van Andel was bankrolling the company, and they developed the new 70 which is a lengthened 50 . I remember the first time i saw it in Holland Michigan in 84, and than I followed it out of the channel in my little 18 Baron. The 70 was a monster and I was a toy running alongside and behind it and it was clipping along at 40mph...
No idea what it had for diesel power probably triple 1271Detroits or maybe twin 1671s for that Era
The 70 made the sheer line flow much better than the 50.

love old Cary hulls - we have a few go by us in SE Florida from time to time - one is Navy Blue w gold accents - dual diesel - it is a beast! Not a big fan of the cockpit layout - seems like a lot of big furniture but that hull is awesome!

A guy I worked for back in the late 80's had one here in RI (took it to Florida as well), had 4 each 454 / TRS.
Lots of comfort, full air, generator etc., it was about a 50MPH top end but it was certainly a show stopper to pull up to a dock with it in its day
