When I pull my boat out on Monday I saw yachts going out of Tampa Bay and I’m assuming heading south I hope they turned around

Just a little bit of wind and chop. “Chop is fine… we’ll batten down the hatches, clear the deck, maybe have a few broken dishes”

Did that yacht make it or is it the one that piled against everything?

Some serious cajones to be out in that. Serious cajones.

I think you will see more listings like this. Likely a "no insurance" property, if it was insured they would want to get the check for the damage then list it for sale. Great lot but look at the devastation on that block!

Yep on the Cooling. Cash or forget it. Insurance companies that make it thru this will not write anything on the water anymore .

Anybody know how badly the Burnt Store Marina was damaged?

snapmorgan 10-14-2022 09:18 AM

I drive Burnt Store road almost every day. I haven't been in the marina, but there isn't terrible damage in that immediate area. I suspect they survived pretty well. Hate to hear that about Craig (Oldschool) I live just a few blocks from him, but I am on a freshwater canal and didn't get the flooding from the storm surge. my canal was full to the top of my boat dock and had 4' white caps on it. I got pretty lucky and just had the shingles and gutters blown off my house and the lanai damaged. My boats were in a storage lot on the corner of Pine Island and Burnt store roads. Although there was lots of carnage in that storage facility, both of my boats were unscathed.

A few posts late but here is some salvage laws for FL:

You can’t just claim a boat, FWC calls that theft!

Not that I am going to go out looking to salvage boats, but wouldn't this only apply to Florida titled boats and wouldn't apply to USCG documented boats?

I'm no lawyer but I believe that this has to do with ownership. You can't take a derelict boat and call it your own right off. Paperwork has to be processed to see if the boat is actually owned.
But I believe you do have monetary salvage rights.
