Looks like the Aussies found the master key for the lock Mother Merc and the EPA tried to apply.

Those Aussies don't fock around when it comes to outboards. They have been making 450HP Yahama SHO outboards (with aftermarket superchargers) since 2017.

I don't know if the QC4V package is an indicaiton of the price that outboard ECU's might be.

https://www.racebeat.net/products/mo...acing-qc4v-kit

Seems pretty expensive at first glance until I realized that I have $4500-5000 wrapped up in a Holley Dominator setup for my hot-rod.

Really cool thing about the MoTec is that they're saying it can integrate with Smartcraft gauges / displays as well as using MoTec displays.

Thats really amazing if you think about it... What lower do you think will be under it? Correct me if im wrong, but isnt the 350, 400, 450 just a repurposed Bravo to some point? Is there the ability to run 1.25 shaft on the 450 or is it already 1.25?

Everything MoTec makes is badass. That being said, if/when there is an issue their tuning/diagnostic software is far from simple.

I ran into a fellow in summer of 21 who had 500r outboards on a 39 MTI......everyone I mentioned it to said they were just decals ....had a chance to chat with him a few months ago.....he told me they were prototype motors that Mercury put on his boat via MTI for real world testing...he ran the boat a year and traded....he said he never had a minutes trouble from them.....very credible person.

How many hours in that year? I know people that do 30 others that put 200-300 in a year.

If Merc is aiming for a 500 HP outboard, couldn't they convert the powerhead into a I/O application? A Bravo 1 could handle that easily.
