Ha, bit of a long story. My dad was raised in Jefferson City before he met my mom in Chicago after coming back to Navy Pier after the south pacific in WW2. I learned to ski on the main channel at the lake in 1956 at 6 years old.
Wow, lake was way different then. I've been going to the lake all my life, from trailering boats down and renting to owning property and having boats on lifts the last 24 years. Between kids growing up, and now grandkids so busy in sports every dam day of the year, we just were not boating as much which led to my wife and I not coming down and spending 3-4 months a year down there any longer. Country Club Cove Villas were a nice spot, great cove at the 4MM, very calm for swimming off the dock, but started getting tired of living in an association, fees etc, especially after serving on the board as treasurer the last 5 years. So we decided to take a break and figure out what is next. Wife keeps talking about Tennessee possibly. But it is also getting slammed with people moving there from the coasts. I guess time will tell. But I have to say the lake has changed a ton. And I'm not a fan of a few of the changes, especially the crazy amusement park going in! I'm not sure how positive a casino will be either. But that's just me. The lake will always be a destination of choice for many. I'm thinking a family trip down to Big Cedar Lodge pretty soon might be a nice change of pace this summer.

Agree with you on many points. Big Cedar is a great place. Rent a toon and tool around the area. I've looked at places on Table Rock, but to me it is a hard sell. You are either in a big development or tearing down an old place or a total redo, whatever fits your budget or needs.

I drove through the development earlier today. Any updates?

Last I talked to Greg was 3(?) weeks ago: Pre-sales have been STRONG on 1st 2 levels (Water and 2nd tier) Town Houses are still in design stage (Our friends are in line) and infrastructure going in.

Coming along nicely. It is the Slowzarks so things don't always move along as fast as one might like.

Boy, isn't that the truth! Maybe once the streets are in things will begin to pop.

True story on timing. Developing isn't full of red tape at the lake, just seems everyone is sloooow. Sales are good. The first homes are moving along, and the clubhouse and pool start next month with the villas. That was done to streamline the concrete crews.

The streets will be rough-paved by mid-October with the third dock install going on early September.

Kinda sad. My dad was a regular working man. We had a condo and boat on the Lake at the eleven mile marker in the 80's. Now it's a millionaires playground and normal people are priced out. Glad I got to enjoy it before it got so crowded and expensive.

Its all relative, Pricing is based on demand. People who were middle class are now pushing millionaires. Even though on the surface it looks like everything has exploded in pricing and the "common man" is being priced out, it is the same people just making and spending more money. If you had a second home 20 years ago, you were the upper echelon of the middle class, nothings changed.

LOTO is still one of the best priced waterfront in the country. ESPECIALLY if you also take into consideration the tax costs.

When 16 year old kids are making $15/hr flipping burgers.... Certainly ALOT more than we made. If I remember right, in 1983 when we got married, a engineer was making 25k/yr.....

If you want to be at the lake and have a lower budget, just go to the upper numbers or 2nd tier... There is a price point for everyone!

^^^ Exactly correct. That is what I started at in August 1982
