30 years too late. Im keen to drive one although my only offer comes from a client who bought one and said "this handles like ****" 520/ITS/5 blade from the factory.

Who was the 22 fan on here who told me a few years ago "we like our rounded bottom and have no reason to change"?

Right. Carry on. It's not so much a pad (velocity, challenger, etc) as it is an extended V section. Looks very fountain-esque to me. Probably not a coincidence.

The 21 Challenger (king daddy of small offshore boats) was designed in 1976. Nice of Donzi to sort of catch on. Hopefully they lay up enough glass in the bottom on these so they don't crack like so many of the 2006-2011ish boats have.

Not really. V22 pad is wider, stretches further forward and has a better bow entry angle. They would have been very wise to copy the V22, but I think the 22 Classic is too narrow from the start.

How long before they strap an outboard on it?

22 feet
5 passenger
old school look
modern step bottom with aft sculpted pad
badass big outboard

I am a huge fan of the Donzi 22' Classics, but this thing looks pretty damn fun to me.
That's the first one to hit the water, just a couple days ago.

Totally agree Johnny. They did it to improve the performance and handle big power better, but the design even still is a bit dated. And, not a popular opinion, but 500+ HP is overpowering this hull, especially the old round keel ones. I wrote an article years ago about it and the Donzi faithful didn't like it, didn't like the idea of updating the bottom!

Ya, almost all the other 21 and 22 single outboard performance boats will run circles around a 22 Classic. Glad to see they brought back the 22 Banshee.

The 22 Chaudron is probably the best rough water 22 out there. The old 21 Challenger, Superboats etc are legendary too.

Is that a wrap?
