They came to the crane directly behind us in Englewood. I have to say, they idle very nicely.

Any guesses on what happens to the reliability when they go quad turbo on those mills?

Other proprietary parts I'd guess Mercrury...

I just checked Bams site, interestingly about everything internal in the short block and the heads including the head aren't sold separate except the main bearings.

If I remember right Geico got Kaase involved looking for durability with the QC4V.
Then also seen an interview where Kaase mentioned getting into them.
Not to beat a dead horse but if the cam and cranks are the only true one off items that would be why they may be a viable alternative. The aftermarket has really picked up on LS based motors. But its all a guess, who knows if pistons, valve train, rods etc are proprietary or not.

How much longer then a QVC4?

You referring to the Sixteenpower as far as crank and cam?
Other than those and the blocks, yeah seems it is all just LS stuff.

Yes I was.

In my thinking (and I am NOT normal) that would be a reason to use them over the QVC4 motors.

Answers to questions:

Weight is 800 lbs as it goes on the dyno, 1200 lbs marinized. Add whatever the transmission, transom assembly and #6 drive weigh. The race boat had to carry 600 lbs to meet minimum weight for the class. The engines are not thirsty, because they don't have to run the rich AFR that boosted engines do. Length is 46.5" from back of block to front of accessory pulleys. Other than the crank and block, there are other long parts, such as camshaft, oil pan/main housing and dry sump with 7 stages, also a unique double coolant system with two pumps, two thermostats and two heat exchangers.
