From what i heard the boat was getting a service and they dropped the oil filter on a battery and then things went south from there. Tank has video from when it started, this was in Channel islands harbor, oxnard california

Maybe they are just redefining the "second greatest day" as that day when you call the insurance company and remind them you have an agreed value policy......

If that’s true, it’s one of the many reasons all unfused power connections are supposed to be properly covered. Damn shame

used to be a really nice boat. Though I can’t figure out what make
it is. About 75’ though. The owner is a pilot for Tom cruise. Had a mechanic in from Texas working on it and dropped the oil filter onto the exposed battery terminals. Boom.

can’t even imagine the bill on this one. I’m guessing recovery, clean up and fines for oil and diesel leak will match value of boat. Bad day.

Looks like a baia 78. Cool surface drive boat. Oil filter on a battery! Wow. Will definitely make me careful about that.

I think you’re right except it may be an 80’. Windows on the 80 match. And that dock is 90’ long.

Wow...convinces me to cover my 3/8" terminal posts...I've got the big battery terminals covered, but the smaller ones aren't. Need to find a good option that will fit over the nut on the terminals.

Those damn long diesel oil filters. :wink Uggh.
Was the mechanic injured ?
Sure sucks when you have one of those ‘what are the chances if that!’ Moments….but this may take the cake.

Take a nut to hardware store and see what rubber or vynyl hose will just barely push on to it. A few inches long per terminal should do it.
