Yeah, I dummingly went out on. a 30 spectre cat w/outboards knowing one engine would cut out. I was nervous but went for it, lost a motor at 110 and it just slowly veered to the one side.. no biggie but it was pretty calm with no boat traffic so totally different scenario

Been there.....almost 20 years ago now (2006) and thankfully Rik and I were not injured either. Two years ago we weren't so lucky when my same 30 (after conversion to outboards and with new owner) went over and we lost his girlfriend Nancy. Until you've left your house with 4 people and come home with 2 (one in the hospital and one missing), you won't really know how important people are and how unimportant equipment is. The day we went over in my 30 with was absolutely nothing in comparison to the day it went over and human life was lost, and another forever changed.

I think it had more to do with turning and losing an engine than just losing a motor while going straight. Seen quite a few raceboats spin out and a few capsize when they lose thrust in a hard corner going fast. Didn't see it so it all speculation on my part.
