Not to derail this subject on #6's, but its crazy how Imco has changed thier minds on using Torco now. Suddenly last year they have their own line of Imco oil and recommend the Mercury oil if Imco is not available. The Imco stuff is way different than the Torco was and cheaper to buy as well,

I don’t have #6 drives, but i googled :) the question and found a a Merc service bulletin on draining/filling VI dry sump drives:

I have owned a cat with wet sump sixes and two cats with dry sump sixes. Torco MTF is what is used on dry sump 6's. It is a manual transmission oil and it is what Mother Mercury says to use. Summit Racing sells it. Buy a 5 gal pail for $220.

The green mercury stuff would turn real thin and come out like water in my experience, hopefully the new stuff is better .

Mercurys new 85w90, its gold/ brown in color. Mine comes out looking the same as it went in every oil change.. good stuff!

I have not used in my dry sumps yet but I have heard good things about it. That is until they change suppliers in the quest for more profit as always...

I have used the Amsoil 75w-90 marine gear lube in them the last couple of years from my old boat to get rid of it and zero issues looks the same coming out as it did going in. Going forward I will use the Merc racing stuff so the weight matches.
