Default Hustler 32 LE

Hello,

I am new here and am mostly here on behalf of a busy friend I'm trying to help with a boat, I don't do any kind of boating myself. I apologize if I'm in the wrong forum, just looking for some guidance

He picked up a 1988 Hustler 32 LE maybe a decade ago from the Kerr Lake area (Virginia), so I figure it's been fresh water use. Twin 454's, Fairly clean, with a quick look I don't see any hull damage or cracking in the clear coat but I've not looked really hard. I can assume the motors will need typical work from sitting, I don't have much hope that they are in great condition from sitting so for now I just view them as projects themselves but were in working order before storage.

His plan was to restore the boat and it'd be a fun project but we were discussing maybe just selling it as-is to raise funds for other stuff. I have been trying to figure out its market value and where best to post it when I found a few examples on this website. Hustlers do not seem very common but there does seem to be a a fan base for the old Hustlers when they are posted.

I was wondering if anyone might have advice on what the boat as a "project" and tri axle trailer would be worth. I've seen a few boats similar to it listed with no power or as projects but the Hustler 32 itself isn't common enough for me to get a good idea of what they are typically sold for, or even if there's a demand for them anymore.

10 post limit or I'd throw up some pics, she's black with a nice (realistic) flame from tip to about mid hull

Sorry, I just saw where it said "no classifieds" in general discussion, is there a way to move this to an appropriate thread?

Its fine here you are asking for information about its value, if you list it for sale it needs to be put in the classifieds.... its pretty much impossible to put a # on it without pictures and more detail.

i have a late 1995 32 hustler that i just finished my full out resto on and got on the water last july
most will tell u that knows the hustlers that mike fiore built from 1997 down as he sold company and went to outerlimits
were awsome boats for their day,,,all hand laid hulls,,,no chopper gun stuff,,,,
the 32 was very fast hull and was awsome on the race course,,,,,,hard boat to beat in the 80-90s
skinny deep vee for the rough water handling,,,,
but in todays world of the cost and time to do a resto be a tuff sale to get much for any older project hull
i always loved the ride of the 32 and always wanted 1 of the last 2-4 made as he did more foam coring in them and lighter layps with some extra framing
so this 95 popped up and i grabbed it,,,i have a shop that i do custom mods and restos
so cost me a lil less having accounts with vendors and my labor/time not added to my cost of my own resto
so by time do new paint, all new interior,,,upgrade electrononics to todays tech,,,build new motors, rebuild trailer, ect
well over 100 invested and hard to try to get that back on resale,,,
so gotta love the boat to do it
hers pics of mine,,,,chopped out the dash and redesigned for garmins,,,new seperate shift and throttle set up ,,,all new wiring,guages/harware on whole boat,,all new interior,,,awlgrip paint ,,blueprinted bottom,,,new reinforced transom for tripple 300s,,12 jl stereo system on 3 jl amps,,all new white lighting throughout boat and leds throughout also,,on and on,,,just finished the bottom blueprinting and rebuilt the trailer with all new bunks, lighting, all new 4 wheel disc brakes
i love the ride in the slop as i run in bays and gulf and boat eats up 3+ers like a bigger boat ,,,goes past 110 in light chop, and i set it up and propped for the snot not max speed,,,so was worth it to me,,,,

That is a gorgeous looking boat, one that I came across when research my friends 32. I know from cars and bikes at least that you never really recover your costs except in cases of rare models maybe. It's one of the reasons I think it'd be better to let someone else make it theirs; I imagine people would like something more modern than the old 454s that are in it.

I will throw up some pics later when I get a post count high enough. Next time I'm over there as well I would make taking a look at the interior and see what the damage is on that, I know it's been covered until recently but we all know how that goes.

tks,,,,i do lots of restos and lot involved in redoing dashes and other components to be able to use todays electronics old hull had smaller dashes filled with guages and no room for big screens and smartcrafts,,,,so the custom fabbing gets up there,,,lol
i still used analog tachs and water pressure guages and pop up indicators as i like them in my peripheral vision looking ahead at the water in the slop than looking down at a screen
but with the 2 garmins still have smartcraft to pull up if want
but did come out nice and did the tripps as i get 50+ miles away from my trailer all the time,,,,and if hurt a motor still jump on a plane and cruise back,,,,
looking forward to poker runs in it this yr,,,
u can email me pics and i can post them for u,,,
as stated need pics of whats there,,,,,

Your discussion thread is fine here. I'm a moderator on OSO.

Based on what you are describing about the Hustler, its probably worth somewhere between 5k and 20k and very dependent on the condition of everything

Thanks for the patience and understanding I always hate being some random to pop up on a board to ask questions with no idea what I'm doing. As much as I miss the water I'm just not in the position to own a boat of my own at this point.

He had figured about 20k from the book value on it but I don't know what he's into it, you know how people are with their dream projects. They sit too long and they just ain't worth anything, you don't get your money back if you rebuild it, then you justify keeping it instead of losing money which I'm guilty of myself too lol
