I hadn’t considered that aspect until you brought it up. I think the thing that makes some people uneasy about manufacturing leaving is the cumulative loss of economic impact, not the employees so much.

The economic impact goes both ways.
With these models are the larest currently produced by Statement. Statement use to have a big shop when the 42 and 50 cat was around but like anything in a popular area that space was sold and is now an Amazon warehouse.
Their current shop I am honestly am not sure could house the molds and work needed as well as all the cureent boats still being built here. So does it make economic sense to buy/rent more space here in a insane cost of living area....or move it else place for part of the work to still be finished here.
None of it is an easy choice and easy to yell about when those doing the yellong have no sweat in the game.

Does anyone want a Rolex made in China? How about a Ferrari from India?
Mercedes has plants around the world, but their premium products are made at home.

Whether they as a nation (or individuals) can do it is irrelevant. It’s all about perception. Here is an absolute premium product being manufactured away from “home” to save a buck. Where else could they be cutting corners to save a dollar?

How is it cutting corners? Again it goes back to no one can say that yet till it comes out and people can see it, touch it, and drive it and form a factual opinion from there.
You point to large car dealers and wrold wide watch makers as products to compare a small buisness to. Not exactly apple to apple there.
It isnt always "to save a buck". Sadly at times you can't produce things here for a fair cost.

Maybe already said but it must be a pretty decent cost savings if the hulls are being shipped back here for rigging.. and the quality control has to be stringent . What if after boat is rigged and test driven there are some bottom issues ? I would assume there coming here done pretty well or it would really not make sense . Let's face it . Your in business to make money and we all know the boat building business is easier said than done to turn a huge profit despite what people think

If any of you think that most of the boats that are "made in Maimi" have been made by legal citizens in the last 50-60 years, you may need to visit, or just read the old books on the legends.

I’m betting the customer base statement is going after could give a **** where it’s built as long as it’s built decent. Many of them probably have their own operations overseas. They show up to the marina, use the boat for a day or two, for a couple years, then sell it and are on to the next thing.
