Default Dual Power Steering pumps?

Did a repower to Merc 496s and they each have a PS pump and reservoir. Since the motors I replaced had one spinning each way only one engine is plumbed to drive the PS.

Can I have both pumps running and connected so I have power steering regardless of which engine is running? I like running one engine when trolling/fishing.

Thanks Swampy

Yes, my Fountain has pumps on both motors, pretty nice. There is a "Compensating valve" to do it? Think that is what it's called.
Its the red block below the filter.

Your motors go the same way now?

plumb each pump into a check valve so that one pump cannot backfeed the other pump when one engine is not running. then T the lines together going to your helm

I had my 28 Saber twin engine converted to dual steering pumps. Can call Imco and they will get you setup. Cost was like $4K not including the labor, but that included all new hydraulic lines for both pumps.
