In all fairness to the shop the previous owner warned me it's very difficult to do on this boat. In fact he suggested pulling the starboard motor. The shop who did the installs also mentioned if they were to do it again they would pull a motor. I'm too old, stiff and fat to even attempt such a feat. The boat sounded great and fired right up after the winterization and impeller replacements with no leaks! I was happy with the day overall.

There is so much variation in marine application it's difficult to make comparisons. Not the same cookie cutter repeatability oof automotive industry. Region affects pricing obviously. If your satisfied and come October you have had an uneventful boating season, that's what your looking for. If I couldn't do my own work it would be very difficult to continue boating, and man it's fun!!

People pay any amount of money and go to any length that have a good time. If you're happy, I'm happy!

I have seen a few installs that were so tight that I wouldnt touch them for $1600. when they build these things they could care less whether or not they can be serviced.

It’s all good! The boat is 2002 Powerquest 340 Vyper with twin NA 700s. It’s a family truckster that can haul ass, cool boat!

Take another look at the actual invoice. There was much more done than just impellor changes (and it was $1300 not $1600). How many have plowed into an "easy" project to find several curveballs. I am guessing that the broken bolts on the motor mounts, along with the alignment was not only most of the labor, but finding and fixing these issues may have saved allot more dollars along with down time on the lake. After waiting all winter, what is it worth NOT to break down on the water and be down for a week or two? An out of alignment motor is much more likely to take out a gimbal, that could also damage the housing and possible outdrive. Many do it yourselfers miss this kind of stuff. $1300 could be cheap.

OK, sorry about interjecting some logic, now back to flaming the shop........................................

That was my invoice from the day before from a local shop here in Sarasota I included for reference. Sorry for the confusion.

I believe another member was showing his invoice to compare. Could be wrong.
