Power to power, probably not.

My comment was more toward the numerous 95 - 105 mph IOs I see around.

I have two buddies in Fla, one w/a 32’ Skater and one w/a 34’ Wright, and both are knocking on 140’s door!

I think w/450’s.

Whoa are the 500s on the phantom!

I want something I can take to poker runs and still have enough boat to run if the conditions aren’t great . I was considering a 344 Cheetah since I like my 388 so much . But they have the same issue as my 388 above 90mph they get loose . I have my 388 where it runs good over 90 mph but it’s still not on rails . If I have to down size I would like to get something that can run in the 110-120 range and not fight me the whole time .

34 phantom

tuff is too small plus you have to drive the crap out of them even in calm water

Donzi 33zx daytona is not a bad option but it will need some big power to get where you want to be. 35 cig might be the compromise but it will be the same power wise I'd think.

Skater is a different animal all together but could work

I have owned several cats one being a 32B with 900hp Blower motors . It is one of my all time favorite boats . I just have come to like the room in a V bottom and the insurance rate.

If you don't mind me asking, the budget you have in mind may help on some ideas.

Who the hell made up that dumbass rule?? Some Karen?
I would build a armored up bulldozer and take a trip to city hall.

Will agree the 344 does get loose above 90mph, from actual experience behind the wheel.

Awesome boats though, fast for mild power, good room in the bilge, mostly composite boat so you don’t have the “slingshot issue”.

The 34 phantom seems to keep coming up and after looking at pictures and threads has me curious. I don’t have any knowledge of the 34 phantom. What is their construction composite ? Are there certain years that are better than others , what type of bottom straight or stepped? What is the availability of them ? Don’t remember seeing any posted for sale .

Traditional fiberglass construction. Bottom is a pad with a little non vented step.

There was a new one available last year with mild power. Not sure if he still has it.

edit: see Philips post

Activator builds a nice 27-32ft single engine v-bottom that is very stable at higher speeds. They are in Long Island NY...I believe he now owns the Kryptonite hulls also, which is another quality hull that would suit your needs.
