that paint job on the ob setup is really sleek. I like that!

Thank you, I spent countless hours with Thomas Kulesia at No Coast Designs on the renderings, and he did all the masks for the paint job. Chris Mills at Boat Customs painted the boat and absolutely nailed it on executing Thomas's vision for the completed job. Between the two of their work, I couldn't have been any happier with how it turned out. The masking/backmasking and colorways/fades are the best I've ever seen.

No comparison, my 30 was an incredible boat for its size with the Sterling NA 800s/ASD 7s combination. The problem was that we couldn't stop the drives from having catastrophic failures that I was afraid were going to kill me at some point, especially seeing as the boat was capable of 150+ mph speeds. It was still a very good boat for an outboard boat of its size with the tuned 400Rs (127mph best), but absolutely no comparison in performance or ride quality after it was converted.

I've seen the vids of the ay speed Arneson drive failing and turning the boat into a collision with the boat next to him.

Is that the type of catastrophic issues you're experiencing? Or other faillures that would be a problem at the speeds you're runnning?

I've never really liked the outside thread plastic nut that holds the drive socket in place.

Probably the best looking OB pleasure skater I’ve seen. Not huge on the flat transom of the larger OB skaters. And I’d be willing to wager this would run with the newer 34-36 footers

I remember that weekend. Was a good time. I gotta find the pic of the rooster your skater threw before the switch over to OB’s

hope things are good Dale.

Didn’t know that was your old Skater.

Just me but the red and silver version was one of my favorite Skaters.

The reason for the conversion from IO to Outboards for me is simple--less and easier maintance-- with my 700's the boat was very reliable and pretty fast. The ASD7's with the 700s never missed a beat and Rik and the many others--Dale were huge help in getting the boat right with them. I am on Lake St Clair and a 30 FT with outboards is just fine... Bigger lakes it would be too small and give up too much in the ride without the IO. I miss my 28'!!!!!!

Curious also to the failures.

For someone in the industry such as yourself, posts like this are certainly not going to help your reputation in this very small industry. It makes you look arrogant and foolish at the same time. Here is a picture of Mike's 2016 308 w/ ASD 7s on it - I've seen the boat personally when I was at Skaterfest a few years ago. Mike has also reached out to me recently with questions concerning his re-rig, as he knows I have already gone through the process w/ my former 30/ASD7 rig. He's a very nice, knowledgeable Skater owner and certainly doesn't deserve a disrespectful post put up about his boat that is a fully legit, built-and-rigged at the Skater factory, 308/ASD7 rig.

Dale, it’s no secret that my personal opinion of taking apart stern drive boats to make outboard boats is lame.

I by NO MEANS was calling this boat lame. I just realized I accidentally “quoted” the wrong post. I meant to quote “I’m removing my arnesons and going outboard”

none the less. Even my customers who have OB boats here in my possession laugh at my canter regarding the outboard fad. Sorry dis liking outboards apparently makes me ignorant and foolish ? Thanks though, I’m fairly certain it is well known at this point regarding my reputation To not call me if you want to convert to outboards because I won’t answer the phone 😂

I also understand that I am messing up a pretty boat........ I think the weight balance on it has never been great as the large bussle(LOOKS GREAT) but adds alot of rear weight that is difficult to overcome. With the setup I often needed FULL use of the tunnel tab between 75-105 mph. I also broke two of them along the way... The boat was great below 75-80 mph or above 105 but was terrible in between....
