No, the Velocity hull is a performance boat. The Powerquest is a nice "offshore" boat. The Powerquest probably has more room and comfort.
PQs have been described as the "Gentlemen's performance boat". They run well, just not as well as some others, but without many of the sacrifices that most of those others have made for that extra performance. You won't have any problem going over 80 with the Velocity. A Velocity 280 would probably be more comparable size wise to your 272 than a 260.
I would think a Baja 272 would handle 78-82 without a problem. The 30 Outlaws run close to that range what I've seen. . |

I need better trim tabs but dont know what to get, would i do a bolt on larger tab or do a complete kit. The bravo is just fresh and stock. I never hammer it out of the hole just roll into it slow so drive should be ok. If you want to run 80+ go for Velocity 280 or 290. A Plus is that the factory is still around and making boats. A 290 VR 1 would also be nice but you sacrifice some cabin head room and cockpit depth. The 290 SC has a huge cabin, for a 29 foot boat.

The whole hull was designed with one thing in mind... speed and performance. And they have the awards and hardware to back it up. Under 30' I believe a pad outperforms steps. My friends 27' NA straight bottom padded Fountain would outperform 27' step bottom Fountain with similar power. |

The Teague Platinum drive will already have XR gears in it, full length tower and upgraded shafts. It is as good as it gets for a bravo based drive. To upgrade from there, you are looking at an IMCO SCX. What you currently have is very comparable to an IMCO SC. If you were to buy another boat, I would swap drives and keep the one you currently have provided that the new boat just has a B1 or standard XR.
