Velocity 260

I'm looking for mint velocity 260 or 280 from 1995 to 2002 or so. If anyone knows or has found one please let me know. I am in Washington state and there isn't much up this way for sale like that.

I found VERY nice 2001 power quest 280 with a 500 efi. i do not know much about that boat. My current baja 272 is a great boat and in show quality shape but everything i read says this isnt the boat to do 80 in?? hard to make go fast so i am trying to be smart about this and get a boat like my baja 272 that is better for going faster than my current 72 mph baja 272.

HPManiac,

I've seen videos of 280s running stably at 85. No idea what was under the hood. Mine runs a sold 76-77 GPS, 78 on the right day, with a ProCharged 496HO, turning a Bravo28 prop. ProCharger advertised the kit to put the 496HO at 615HP, but some have suggested it's probably not much over 500HP. Who knows. I do know I'm turning two inches of pitch more than the same boat, same engine, NA, and about 10MPH faster. If that suggestion is correct, and the 280 you're looking at is actually putting out 500HP, I'd think you'd be in that ballpark. What prop/drive is on the boat?

I love the boat. It's a clean, well thought out cockpit, with about as much room as any other sport boat; more than most. About the only thing I don't like about it is the bench seats in the cuddy could have been considerably shorter, leaving a bit more head/feet room for us normal height guys. I specifically sought one without the fridge and microwave. I wanted a boat, not a hotel room. I wanted a cuddy space, not a kitchen.

Thanks. Brad.

The 280 has a fresh bravo 1 with a 28 pitch. engine is a fresh 540 with gm rec heads and hydro roller, says around 600hp. boat is extremely nice except it has no trim tabs. I thought that was strange. owner says does 75 with ease. I love my baja 272 and so far i have zero complaints. i got a honest 71 gps with 1/2 tank and 2 people with gear this last sunday. I want a boat that will do 80 and drives nice at that speed. So far the baja drives great at current speeds. But people on here say they dont at 80 and will take a bunch more power to get there. This baja is sooo darn nice so its a hard choice what to do. I have a 565 i could put in the baja. Or should i just get a velocity lol. I changed the rocker arms on the baja to a higher ratio and picked up 125 to 150 engine rpm so its making more power now.

Are the velocity 280 and pQ 280 very close in design boats? they look like they are. Problem one is in florida and the other in Michigan!! I am in Washington state. lol

No, the Velocity hull is a performance boat. The Powerquest is a nice "offshore" boat. The Powerquest probably has more room and comfort.

The engine in the My baja 272 would be perfect for a procharger, fresh low compression with good forged bottom end and merlin Rec port heads. Has a big fuel system already. I just Dont know how well these baja 272 boats handle in the 78-82 range?

You need a Velocity 280. Fantastic running boat. I don't know this boat or owner, but I googled the phone number and the owner is 72 years old

and lives in Wisconsin, but runs this boat in Lake Havasu. Low hours and probably has been maintained with an open checkbook.

This Howard in Havasu looks like a great buy too. https://www.maxedoutmarine.com/inven...rformance/1861
