Depends how fast you want to go. If you want to buy a 525 boat , get some wind in your hair at 70 mph then I would get a stand up boat. If you are going over 100+ and want that sports car feel. Sitting down is much more enjoyable. I’ve owned both. 388 hustler with blower motors and arnesons. Sporty boat. Was a great ergonomics. Would run over 100. After a full poker run your knees and backs feeling it. I was 19? When I had that boat and I remember after a long run I was feeling it.
then moved to sit down 39 OL gtx. 6s and big power and it was a game changer. Now in a 40ss skater and have no complaints. I do enjoy getting into a big cig and bashing waves. So it depends what your kind of boating is. Because the wind on a stand up boat makes you feel like you’re going faster than you are. 70 mph in a sit down with a windshield would be worlds most boring day on the water |
I always have the seats up and sit down in my "drop out bolsters". I realized this in my Panther after a few years of standing that it was much more comfortable to sit in the seat. I also sit in my Active Thunder even though it has a lot of freeboard.

im shocked to hear that…can you explain why?
we’ve owned stand up v bottoms forever. Idk if I could ever see myself in a sit down boat. I`d never stand again, it`s like getting in your car and standing .. it doesnt make sense anymore. Also everyone feels way more secure and riding on a cushion of air instead of trying to go thru the water is much easier on the body . I couldn`t imagine going 130mph and not being behind the windshield... Erica is 5'7" and she can see just fine. Sitting down feels like you`re driving a car on water . https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...460445b836.jpg |
Prefer to sit if the boats built for it. But I miss standing every now and then.

I prefer to stand while idling. Better line of sight to avoid the poontoons.
Pretty much the same time I’m picking tabs up I’m also lifting the seat up. Feel much more connected to the boat |
i got a broken back since 15 years... not getting any better... never rode in a sit down boat, but would really be affraid of hitting that big one that
would make me go in a wheel chair... unless i am wrong ? |
I`ve had a ton of hard hits in the Cig , the dash broke one time if hit so hard..my back used to hurt , along with my legs and feet . I have yet to experience anything like that in the Cat.
Everyone on the boat has a habit of bracing for impact when crossing big cruiser wakes but this thing just goes over it like it was a jet ski wake.. I had no idea the ride would be this good. keep in mind I have a big heavy inboard cat .. some of the potatoe chip outboards boats may not ride like that but a Performance 36 has a nice ride thru the slop too .. just a bit more side side movement and water over the deck. |
with me it is all about freeboard. So for me it all depends on the boat cat or V.

I used to put the seat up in the PowerPlay as much as possible. Standing was fine but it gets old after a while.

When I am seated in my sonic 45, I can barely see in front so... stand up 95% of time
