The course was actually shortened again to 800' before the national circuit folded a few years back when Lucas Oil and MAV TV pulled out as title sponsors. All the TFH are now sitting in warehouses, there's no series left for them to race.

No way a conventional headed Donovan with a roots blower setup would be close to being competitive in TAH, all those guys are running Brads w/PSIs. I ran an open cockpit Kurtis 501 for 4 years that was quicker than the PM or PO hydros - our best pass was a 5.03 @ 165 (NJBA mandated speed limit in open hydros) in 1,000'. Still not even close to the top dog TAHs that were running 4.20s/4.30s @ 200+ in 1,000'.

Thanks, it was a "bucket list" item that I checked off the list 10 years ago. There was actually a plan to run the shootout course with a TFH and shatter the 244mph record, but that's a story for another thread........

I tend to agree with Dale on shortening the courses again, lower speeds and run pairs so that more boats get to go down the course. 3/4 of mile goes by fast but the speeds we are seeing (even in that short distance will be deadly when something goes bad). I remember Garth asking me if I thought he was crazy for chasing the 200 mark in his 36 Skater-my response was "it pays nothing and could cost you everything". It is fun deal to be part of, but losing friends and what it does to their families absolutely sucks.
We are going to be dealing with a new caution this year due to course relocation. We will be traveling through an area that is not "bank protected" for part of the course--wind might be even more of a factor.
