New Flooring

My lone Winter upgrade on the old PQ was new flooring. The original carpet was tired

and the step pads were coming unglued. I took it to Kastelic Canvas in the Chicagoland area. They were great to work with and I think it turned out nice.

SecondWind,

Looks great. We've talked about doing something similar, but we keep hearing horror stories about staining. I personally like the bare floor. We pulled the carpet out after our first couple outings in ours after buying it. Still chewing on the idea.

I see you've pulled your seat pedestals. Neil Wallace suggested against it, as the stainless bolts and aluminum nut inserts in the floor would likely have fused over time. He said I'd likely break as many as I got out. I don't have any immediate need to pull them, but I'm curious if you encountered any of this. The company we talked to at a local boat show said if we wanted a flooring made, they design them to go in around the pedestal feet, so we wouldn't have to pull them.

Thanks. Brad.

Brad,
I bought the boat like this. We didn’t pull anything. I never realized the boat came with pedestals. Ignorance is bliss I guess. I love the boat though and the flooring really woke up a tired interior!

SecondWind,

I think I was misunderstood. Did you have troubles getting the seats unbolted from the floor?

Thanks. Brad.

The shop who installed the floor took them out. I’m picking the boat up this afternoon and I’ll ask if they encountered any problems.

SecondWind,

Good to know. My guess is that, MAYBE, PQ used some anti-seize or something to keep the screws from fusing to the nuts, whereas Baja may not have. Who knows. Our boats are the same year, so, hopefully, if I ever have to remove my seat frames, I won't have the same problem your shop didn't have.

What did they charge you? If you don't mind me asking....

Thanks. Brad.
