Grateful for Brownie's contributions and efforts to share the history of the offshore sports and culture.

RIP and full throttle on those Vee drives.

HUGE loss! I was lucky enough to spend a few days with him at the Miami Boat Show 2017 supporting PBN.
Hearing his stories first hand was literally a step back in time that I wish I could have experienced myself.
I should have recorded some of the chats; regret not doing so.
This is one of my most treasured pictures getting to meet and chat with a few living legends.

No photo description available.

This was also an honor to meet Paul and Rosemary Sparrow and listen to them trade tall tales and stories with Brownie from the 60s and 70s heydays of boat racing. They spent a few hours there chatting, BSing, laughing, and more.

No photo description available.

RIP Brownie. You will be missed.

Reading his insanely crazy and hilarious stories here in random threads or re-posts is one of the things that got me sucked into this godforsaken sport! Such a rich history that we all take for granted and overlook I think. Thank you Brownie!!

RIP Brownie.
Isn’t that the truth. My Dad’s never been into boats much but his cousin is Odell Lewis. Despite most likely being at family reunions at the same time, I don’t recall ever meeting him. For decades my aunt would occasionally mention she has a relative who raced boats. I just assumed it was some guy like many around here who bought a boat and raced a season and then moved on until she said he “drove for Mercury”. I did eventually get to talk to him a couple times but then his wife passed away and I didn’t want to intrude.
My aunt tells me of a reunion in September, so maybe if everyone stays healthy, I’ll get a chance to sit down and really talk to him.
