Thats kinda what I was thinking 5 mph is quite a bit. I should have had pretty much the same amount of fuel in it as the last few wot runs (possibly a few gallons off) with the same items on board and I actually had 3 people on the 55 mph run instead of 2 which is typical. I probably had 14-15 mph of wind at my back when hitting that speed though and waves were definitely helping get the boat out of the water compared to before. Part of it may be me adapting driving to the boat but I was kind of doubting that a little lol.

Just for ****s and giggles I ran some numbers through Mercruisers prop calculator. 23 pitch prop with 12% slip at 5,000 rpm should yield 64mph. 14% slip would be 62 mph.

Ya I think something is definitely up if I have time today I’m going to try to get the numbers off the drive to confirm the gear ratio and see if I have a electronic tach sitting around to check the mounted gauge. I’d also like to throw a timing light on it just to confirm that’s good as well just to rule out another possible contributing factor. It seems like it may be another week or two before I get to try the other 23p prop. I also tried a high flow spark arrester as some people swear that those will give them a few mph but did not seem to see any difference from the stock one. Ran both of my other boats on the calculator to just get an idea the one had 10% slip and the other around 15%.

We get this in the fall here and there.
