test drove a 6.0 powerstroke this morning
I was out and my dealer had a new 6.0 powerstroke in and he let me take it down the street. It had a little more pick up then the 7.3. And was a little quieter. The truck was a crew cab dually 4x4. I liked the truck and all. But wasnt all that impressed with the new motor as far as acceleration

I'm worried about that engine. I'm going to be getting a new Excursion soon, and I'm sure it will have the 6.0 in it. There is another thread on here that someone said that the 6.0 is pretty maxed out, and that the 7.3 is only 60% utilized (or something like that). I never did chip or enhance my 7.3, but was going to consider it on the next X. Is the 6.0 really maxed out?

2004 is said to be the last year for th Ex, Only to be replaced with a redefined version of the Expedition based on Chevrolets Suburban. Supposedly alot more "driver" friendly.

All the write-ups I have read on the 6.0 PSD have said it is a much better engine than the 7.3. Ford had to discontinue the 7.3 due to EPA issues or some such thing. As far as reliability Ford has used the engine commercially for about 5 years although the 5 speed tranny is new. I still can't decide between an Excursion (V10 or 6.0 PSD) or GMC Yukon XL 2500 with the 8.1. My boat/trailer weigh at least 14K lbs so I will be over the rated towing capacity of either vehicle. I prefer the look/feel of the Excursion but am not looking forward to parking and driving the beast in downtown Chicago. Also no sunroof
