Default help cleaning insta-trim cylinders

The cylinder (covers) on my trim tabs have gone from looking black to a VERY faded gray, and look pretty bad. I know it's a very minor point, but as long as I'm doing winter maintenance etc.

What can I use to make the cylinders black again? Any suggestions?

It's funny when someone actually has a question about boating stuff, nobody answers.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to 'paint' or clean these?

thanks

Maybe if we spiced it up a bit with saying that "trim cylinders on the west coast by far fade a better looking gray color than the cylinders say at LOTO or the east coast".

Wait and see...

Default Contact Insta-Trim Boat Leveler Company

KC Baja & Baja232,

Hi, I'm Thomas and I work for Bennett Marine in the Client Services department.

You both are dealing with UV damage, which cannot be repaired. Of course, you should contact Inst-Trim directly, since they know more about their product than I. This is a link to their site; http://www.insta-trim.com/main.html, I am sure they will be happy to advise you!

If you have anymore questions, feel free to contact me ([email protected]).

Sincerely,
MJ Thomas

Once again, Bennet helps out, even on a competitors product.

I replaced my cylinders last year. I had some leaks. Called Insta-trim and he sent me 4 new cylinders. Also talked to him about the discoloration problem. Tabman II is correct. UV damage...However, several cleaning solutions will discolor the cylinders as well. If you use On and Off on the transom to remove water stains, it will severly discolor the cylinders. Once the cylinders become discolored, try a product similar to Mothers Back to Black.
Hope this helps.....
Jon

It may sound stupid but I spray painted my two years ago and they still look brand new.

Thanks for the input guys.

Tabman II... special thanks to you for the suggestions. I'll give them a try. Why did I think that Bennett and Insta-trim were the same people? Very similar product.

BTW you might want to edit that post above. I couldn't get the link to work. Maybe the comma at the end kills the link.
