Default Insta Trim, Leaking

One of my trim tabs seems to be leaking. It will not hold a down position and the oil level has been depleated. Outside, it appears as if it is leaking where the hose connects to the cylinder. Can this typically be repaired with a new hose and reconnecting or does the entire cylinder need to be replaced.

I had the same problem happen on a friends boat. The clamps that insta-trim uses are junk. They typically come off. Just cut the remaining clamps off and use stainless steel hose clamps.

I just read your post after posting the same problem. I will try to remove those clamps and put on hose clamps.

FYI - Insta Trim/Boat Leveler is located in North St. Louis. I called them in the off season and they were very helpful. You might want to call them.

I didnt notice a clamp outside of the boat, where the hose enters the hydro cylinder. Overtons sells the complete system, can you just buy one cylinder? I will call Insta trim today.

There is a piece of trim that hides the clamp just above the cylinder. It should slide up but will probably take some effort if it's been there a while. You can buy parts including a single cylinder from Boat Leveler direct. I replaced a cylinder, my pump, and installed larger tabs for about $200. I think they get $30-$40 for a cylinder.

they have a good web site, here is a picture of the assy

I need to look at my boat closer and determine where the leak is before I buy any parts. Im not sure if it is at the cylinder or at the hose-to-cylinder.
