What's a 42' Harley?

here it is, very cold day 12/31/02, cruising the lower Columbia River

GO4BROKE 02-02-2003 08:09 AM

Looks like a big sport cruiser. Being that its a Harley, do you have to kick start it?;) :p

Steve and Donzified

I look at it this way, would you let someone walk across th seats in you Ferrari or Porsche??? Tracking the dirt from the street?? Your boat costs as much if not more?? Maybe you have enough income that you can redo the interior every 2 years. Personally I take great pride when friends and strangers think my boat is right off the showroom floor. I don't mind it getting dirty, just draw the line when it can get scratched, or interior can be messed up.

Will:rolleyes:

HyperBaja 02-02-2003 11:47 AM

So, who sells some non marking flat (no grooves) bottomed shoes that still offer traction?

The only thing I can think of is a pair of Moccasins. When they get "splash wet" they offer better traction than dry. comfortable, and very original and only cost 4.96 at walmart. just be sure to spray with lots of weatherproofing spray.

Will,

I know exactly what you are talking about. I was very proud of my Baja. It looked like it belonged in a showroom. I would stand on my head to get that last corner in the bilge area clean with a brush. I wiped the engines several times a year with wd 40. I kept the drives waxed. etc. etc. etc. It's just that I'm past that stage now. Maybe its because I am getting older. (Just turned 40) I really want my kids to enjoy themselves when we are out on the boat.

That just does'nt happen when you have a floating Ferrari and three kids running in and out all day long.

Fact: I love boating, not cleaning

Oh yeah, I had a 911 for years. Finally sold it because it just an expensive shelf. There was always stuff sitting on it.

I check the shoes out when the guests arive. If anybody has shoes on that will be a problem, I tell them why, and they are always cool about it.

Plus I put out towels where I expect people to step.

No smoking ever. Drinking ok while in no wake or docked.

Plus I don't ever invite stupid people, which helps with everything.

I wear shoes while driving. Not while cleaning.

For everyone else, just respect my stuff and don't wear anything dumb like cowboy boots... :blaster:

Re: Shoes on boat or not?

Loosen up with the shoes, jeezzzz. Clean non-marking soles on my boat, that's about it.

If anyone has been offshore in 5-6 footers you know you need shoes, or some knew feet when you get back. I always wear sneakers with light color soles and take them off when we hang out.

If you can't sit, walk, or hang out on what you have then why own it.

Wow Bad Girl, what made you dig up this thread?
I take off my shoes when I enter someones house, its only polite.
I like the feel of the sole under my feet when offshore (pun intended). And I've had my Sonic in 10' seas, I'm very comfortable without shoes. Boating with shoes on doesn't feel right.

Re: Shoes on boat or not?

Well, let me tell you, I learned a valuable lesson one Memorial Day weekend at Shooters when, in my 'haste', I let three HOT chics board the old yellow Bumpin Uglies and one of them didn't take her shoes off and had on heels!! well, needless to say she stepped right in the rear seat, catching the bottom edge of the back (vertical) portion of the seat and tore a HUGE hole in it!!... I couldn't be too pissed....she was the hottest one of them all, and I should have made it clear...no shoes allowed!!!

The only shoes allowed in my boat is sailing shoes aka sebago docksides, sperry topsiders.

These shoes does not collect stones or anything under them, and they bite to the deck like glue so you do not fall overboard.

And I always have a towell on the sunbed when docked.

Apparently you never had a girl with high heels on your boat!!! I had to replace my sun-pad due to high heel incident :drink: .

NO SHOES, NO SMOKING, NO ****ING in the boat at ANY TIME!

Re: Shoes on boat or not?

My dad doesnt prefer shoes because of a accident we had with our boat.

One of his workers, who is kind of careless was going to walk up on the deck and he had his shoes on and kicked the antenna on the side of the boat against the glass and shattered the glass and we are still trying to find a replacement peice because its really hard to get made and formula has changed there model or whatever.

Re: Shoes on boat or not?

I don't mind if people wear shoes in the boat as long they're deck or boating shoes. I've never had to tell someone to take their shoes off, they always ask before climing aboard.
The people that we boat with in the Chi-Town area are usually pretty good about respecting other peoples property. Or at least, the people that we associate with are anyway,
I think it's all common sense. You have to respect your own property before you can respest someone elses. When I allow someone on my bow, I know I won't have a problem later down the road whether they had shoes on or not.
As for the upholstery, noone steps on the seats or sun pad with shoes on unless there are towels covering it up.
