Acording to CNN this evening there is a lake within a lake with prime water temps for boating at Long Lake in Broinerd, Minn.
A couple of people interviewed stated they must be aliens from LOTO. At least it sounded like LOTO.

That's our mystery lake. Actualy we now have 2 lakes where there is open water surounded by ice. I've thought about launching but can't figure out how to quickly winterize in below 0 temps.
The "experts" have proclaimed everything from a U.F.O to an earthquake.
The real experts are saying it's caused by ground water intrusion. Basicaly just water coming in from the bottom of the lake caused by high water tables. The warmer water rises, causes currents and erodes the ice from below.
I think there have been quite a few people swimming in the holes after a snowmobile or 4 wheeler has driven into the black hole.

Heard about the mystery hole on the local news tonight, and they said that scientist were puzzled by the strange hole in the middle of the lake . they said that it does not freeze when the rest of the lake does, but has been known the freeze at just below 40 degrees on other ocassions. Sounds strange to me.
