Have any of you heard of "the buttkicker"??
it is a true subsonic output device. the size of an old engine oil can .

It outputs true subsonic vibrations, down to 10Hz. with is the natural fequency of an earthquake!!! the inventor was at our engineering facility ( we are automotive interior systems design/manufacturer, i'm in product development)

we installed one into a pontiac grandprix. it sounded awesome.....
I mean felt awesome!!! RIGHT IN YOUR CHEST.
it vibrates the vehicle body and you feel it. design originally for rock band drummers to feel the beat as they all wear earplugs now days.

anyway. I think this would work awesome bolted to the floor of the cockpit. takes MUCH less room that 2 or 3 subs and still outputs more subwoofer "feeling" with a 500watt amp.

Audiofn, heard or played with these?

retail $200, amp retail$200 and can double for a 110V power inverter.

Andy Buzz 02-26-2003 10:19 PM

That is a transducer. The theory is good used in addition to subs and speakers. In the past I built many systems for Jeeps with other types of similiar transducers. In a boat though, you will hear many other sounds if everything in the boat is not glassed in. If the seat is a substructure or if the floor is screwed down, you will hear sounds that are not desireable.

What works best is fiberglass boxes around a good sub. I offer vacuum bagged white gelcoated sub enclosures for 8,10 and 12 inch subs for as little as $135 each.

For speakers I usually suggest Babb as they sound good outdoors and play loud.

For amplifiers, Rockford Fosgate has great quality and overall the best reliability, least power consumption using the bd series and best efficiency.

If someone is looking for some pre-season amp or speaker deals, I always have brand new, premium products that I can offer at a great deal to fellow OSO members.

Feel free to call (813)882-8477 for advice.

Last fall I put in a kenwood cd player and 4 speakers, better then what was in the boat. But I don't spend much time sitting in the boat to use it.

I would rather listen to 110+ decibles of SBC :D :D

Clarion marine head unit, clarion 6pack changer, two HiFonics 500 watt 2 channel amps, one driving two 10 in subs in boxes under the deck, the other driving 4 Planet audio 6.5" 2 ways. Far from the loudest boom boom system around but exceptionally well balanced and crystal clear. Never actually listen to it over idle speed though.

Here is the link to Andy Buzz's store. He is going to install a stereo in my boat this week. I will post some pictures after. Not quite sure how crazy I am going to get.

Andy does great work if your in the Tampa Bay area. Best of all is he is a fellow OSO'er and gives you a discount. He has done the audio/visiual stuff in my auto's for years.

That is pretty sick bro! How the hell do you power all of that? Are you changing out batteries everytime you run or what? No stock (or modified for that matter) altinator will push all of that!

Those Xtant amps are kick ass! I have one bridged to 1700watts pushing 12 12" subs in my suburban. Solid power.

1 comp VR 12
2 companent Kickers
2 Alpine 5 and a quarter
1 Alpine 5 channel 580 Watt
It runs my battery's down to chit in 20 -30 minutes. How do you guy's run all that power without a big generator or an AC connection?

Thanks. Love Xtant. I upgraded the alternators a bunch and went with four big gell batteries. Still it sucks em dry in a hurry. The system is setup as two different ones, cabin(diamond) and cockpit(xtant) so I never play them together. We figure at full volume with both systems rocking I would kill all four batteries in less than half an hour.

I just reread your comments and see 12 subs? Is it a a 1001 pushing those? I have one in my truck pushing 4 10" diamonds and it absolutely rocks. 12? Talk about sick. :) NK

I myself am running a moderate system for the boat. 600 watts 12 speakers...two 12" subs (PPI), two amps (PPI), two sets of seperates (MB Quart), two stock speakers (for the cabin), Clarion deck. Going to do some upgrades here shortly;) :D

We have almost the same system!
2 sets of MB Quart 6x9's
2 sets 6.5 MB Quart
2 PPI 'Surfboards'

Should be awsome. Thanks to Main Street Stereo on Long Island this summer is going to be rockin......

Re: What type of stereo system do you have in your boat??

I would never put a huge stereo in a boat, the water, the pounding, the weather, they just don't hold up. A good stereo is too expensive to be disposable. I go with the simple $150 Clarion CD 4 channel, still sounds great.

4-8" pioneer nautica spkrs

System bangs pretty good, all for a grand total of $1,600.00
