It seems to me that theses credit card pumps are setup for cars with small tanks and not a SUV with a 42 gallon tank.
When using your credit card the pump does an authorization for a certain amount before it lets you start the pump. Once you reach that amount of the authorization ($35 or $50) it stops the pump because you are not authorized to spend more than that.
