Am i right in thinking that in the states you guys have about 3.75 litres to a gallon?

In the uk ours are worked out on 4.5 litres per gallon, and we currently pay £1.41 for UL and £1.46 for diesel give or take, thats the price on our pumps outside work.

So for us to buy 1 UK gallon of unleaded at the minute depending on which exchange rate you use to work it out it costs us roughly $10.

Or in terms of 1 of your gallons (3.75 litres?) its aout $8.50.

I truly wish this made any sense, our local prices in Chicago just went down over last week about $.40 or so. I think we filled up for $3.69 yesterday. Aren't we all buying the same barrel of crude? I realize taxes etc factor in for everyone but these massive disparities should be illegal!! Sorry to rant.

I filled up the rental car Tuesday night next to the rental car return facility in MIAMI FL and the gas was only $3.65/gal at the Shell station.

Arrive 5 hrs later in SF and the same gas is $4.77/gal
