47 Outerlimits

I am getting ready to trade my 2000 42 Sonic in on 98 47 OL it has 3 700's and XR drives look's brand new. I just want to know if anybody has any dirt on that size and year 47 OL, I haven't been able to find any and feel that OL is in the top 3 builders out there, but it seems that this is the place to ask.

P.S. I voted for Bush and will again.

CAP071 03-24-2003 06:42 PM

I made lots under Clinton But lost it ALL under Bush. So now I'm stuck in my 28 Sunsation. If Clinton had stayed in I would be in a 37 AT :D

LapseofReason 03-24-2003 06:45 PM

I learned how to make money under Regan, then how to hide it from Clinton.

LapseofReason 03-24-2003 06:49 PM

You two should stop living off of other people's taxes, but I really just want to know about the boat.

CAP071 03-24-2003 06:49 PM

I sold my 1969 GTO and a 1989 Turbo trans am pace car walked away with $30,000 turned it into $110,000 now it's worth about $20,000

Damn Kick my a@@ please

CAP071 03-24-2003 06:50 PM

Can I get a ride? :D

LapseofReason 03-24-2003 06:55 PM

Everybody I know lost their a$$ in the stock market 100's of thousand's they all gave me **** when I bought my 42 instead of stocks. I will loose about 18k in 3 year's on my boat and it was all fun. I don't think they had to much fun watching the stock's go away.

LOL :D

Miller 03-24-2003 07:28 PM

I've seen a 47 with triples and it looks awesome. The only issue I've heard of is that the center drive suffers more abuse than the outside drives and has a tendency to fail more often. So, I'd check the drives, particularly the center one carefully. Of course, the information is second hand, so take it for its worth...free advice.

innthered 03-24-2003 08:20 PM

Lapse, Interested in a 47 Fountain? You know the quality is there and it rides and handles very well. With big power the boat would be *****in'! If you want to know more, let me know.

LapseofReason 03-24-2003 08:27 PM

I'am 6'6'' and right handed I don't fit in a Fountain that well.

later 03-24-2003 08:30 PM

is there a issue with them sitting to low in the water? i dont know but remember hearing something to that effect, not trying to stir up anything you asked.

GO FOR IT YOU WON'T FIND A BETTER BOAT THAN THE OUTERLIMITS.

NOTHING HANDLES LIKE AN OUTERLIMITS.

SIZE FOR SIZE AND POWER FOR POWER YOU WON'T FIND A FASTER BOAT.

ALSO NEVER HEARD OF THEM SITTING TOO LOW IN THE WATER.

LapseofReason 03-24-2003 08:42 PM

I think he meant the fountain they are the only boat I think people might think are to low. I have seen and been in the OL in the water and it looks better than sex with a Playmate, to me anyway.

robsunlimited 03-24-2003 08:46 PM

THATS BECAUSE YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE VERY GOOD TASTE.
WHICH BOAT ARE YOU TRYING TO BUY?

LapseofReason 03-24-2003 08:59 PM

It's the one at fastboats.com

pullmytrigger 03-24-2003 09:46 PM

Lapse:
you've posted earlier that you are a "motorcycle mechanic", you must be one whoop ass bike mechanic to be shopping for an OL!!!
Are you like Rob Muzzy or Pops Yoshimura's son or something??:D :D  .......doug

LapseofReason 03-24-2003 09:57 PM

I'am pretty good, I make a **** load off the street racer's, nobody want's to be the #2 guy. I'am still young (32) untill god tell's me I can take it with me I am going to live. Plus my wife makes good $$ so we can spread it around, just think if I didn't have two kids I might be able to look at one that isn't 5 years old. Ha Ha.

Probably less expensive to run too.

LapseofReason 03-24-2003 10:03 PM

you got that right, ever date a striper?

THEJOKER 03-25-2003 01:57 PM

MY .O2 Worth

I'd get a twin engine with # 6 drives - big power. XR's will fail sooner or later and the 3rd motor is triple trouble. Just ask Tonto off this board about plowing up The Keys. Outerlimits is an awesome boat - BH

I've seen the same problem as PWRBOAT on triple set ups. One is always not running with the other two. The twins staggered run real real good.

THEJOKER 03-25-2003 02:32 PM

damn

Now we're agreeing with stuff Cig28? - the power of OSO -haha - BH

BLee 03-25-2003 03:15 PM

I agree with most of your stuff!! I just got a little hotter than normal at some (not all) of the comments and people in the dying Cigarette thread! :D

LapseofReason 03-25-2003 03:59 PM

But to go 100+ with twin's I'am going to need 1000hp or more then the motors will need a lot more hourly work don't you think? I have heard that this boat was hard on the center drive untill they put XR's on it. But where I boat I'll have to try to air it out. I was looking for a 37 or 42 with twin stagered but all the one's out there are a lot more $$$ than this one. What about just putting some Bmaxes on it they should handle 700 hp fine.

BLee 03-25-2003 04:07 PM

That is definitly true. Is the bottom stepped on the 97? I've just heard too many friends *****in and moanin on a big weekend because one of the motors or drives is acting up with triples.

You could put the IMCO extreme drives on it. They can handle around 1000hp. Thats probably the best drive without goin to 6's.

Really nice boat!

THEJOKER 03-25-2003 04:12 PM

I'm a telling ya !

I would go with # 6's - twin staggered- seriously. You obviously have the cash to get a boat like this - take it a little further and you'll be happy in the long run. Triples add weight also. I'd get a bad ass 37 with 6's. A guy on my lake has a 37 with 900 sc Mercs - claims 105 mph - I'll buy that - BH

BLee 03-25-2003 04:19 PM

Definitely. The 37 Stilletto "Lets Rock," is on our lake. 112mph on both GPS's. Brutal....

LapseofReason 03-25-2003 04:22 PM

Yes it's steped, I am a ASE master tech and now own a motorcycle repair shop. I hate working on my stuff but if I had to I know what to do, and I carry spare MSD boxes dist, and I might start bringing valve spring's with me if I buy this. So the little crap that go's wrong shouldn't stop me. I just don't want to spend more time whenching than boating. I hear it has a spare XR for it so I think I would have It beefed up and then just do the same to the others as they need it. They say it is just hard on the center drive? The main thing is NOT running in the middle or back in poker runs. What type of problems are people with tripp's having is it just keeping them in tune or ???.

BLee 03-25-2003 04:31 PM

pretty much. Lotsa plugs, valves, carbs, etc to keep in unison. You being a good mechanic would solve most of that though. And if one detonates they are more difficult to pull from the boat. The extra XR will be nice to have on hand.

LapseofReason 03-25-2003 04:31 PM

I don't have that much $$$ about 300K is max and I'am getting this for much much less and they are giving me a lot for my 42 sonic that I am about 15k upside down in. This boat has already lost most of it's loss don't you think?? I hear what you are saying but let me ask this and I realy want to know is a 2001 37 with big power and 6's worth 100k more and wont it loose more in a few year's than this one if I keep it nice. That is about what I have found to be the deal right now. I was just going to refi my sonic and keep it another year but I would have to put 15k down to refi. Is tripp's that much of a pain in the ass?

LapseofReason 03-25-2003 04:37 PM

I was maybe thinkink KE fuel injection to help user friendly?? or somebody like that.

LapseofReason 03-25-2003 04:40 PM

Damm you guy's puttin pic's up now I'am getting a chuby again. And my wife doesn't see anything different from the Sonic

BLee 03-25-2003 04:59 PM

LOL pics are good! $100,000 is a bunch. I would go ahead and get the 98. You can dump your Sonic and from what you said the 47 is very well kept. If you weren't a mechanic I might think differently. Plus, it may run great all the time and have zero problems! My buddies both had 42 Fountains with triples. They ran awesome. But, one motor always had a fuel pump, or filter, or a fouled plug, etc. Little things, but annoying when your trying to drink beer and enjoy yourself.

LapseofReason 03-25-2003 05:11 PM

I know what your saying. If I get a fast boat I should be able to get a dock spot at all the poker run's so then I can drink my beer and save $$$, well it sound's like a plan. I hope it work's out if I get it, I would hate to have to say you told me so but that's why I'am hear. I already work on all my bud's boat's they all have Blower's and stuff and not a clue of what to do when they break, and hear I am with 500efi's getting wasted by them it's not right.

pullmytrigger 03-25-2003 06:05 PM

Isnt the "No Discipline" OL for sale, thats one baddazz boat and one of my all time favorites. Its a staggered 37 isnt it??

Blonde Cig Chick 03-25-2003 07:01 PM

No Dicipline is a 42. Very nice boat ;)

rainmn 03-25-2003 07:21 PM

No Discipline is one beautiful boat. Last I saw, it was for sale for $299K without power. Check with Typhoon Marine in Toms River, NJ.
