I to have been boating for years and only heard of saber (sorry about spelling) after reading your post !
your making my point for me ,if you enjoy your saber do it and leave fountain owners to their enjoyment !!
I guess thats the 41 thats a splash of the apache (custom no copy ) I guess 28's should be ??
didn't you have if I put a yard stick on my boat would it be 3 feet longer or something similar?

not exactly a splash, they have the original molds to the 41, anything wrong with using the best rough water v- hull ever made??
do i bash reggie personally? no dont know him.
do i bash his arrogance? YEP!
do i bash the boats quality, NO, never did it
do i think theres something a little deceptive about the way they are measured/named, YEP, but i'm not going there again
do i need a 42 foot/2000 hp boat picking on my azz, nope
do i think my boat would hold its own against a same size/power fountain, yep, been there already

To race in the Catalina Ski race here in So. Cal the 42 Fountain owners must get out the sawzall and chop off 6" of the beak... this then makes it 39 feet from the transon to the tip of the nose.... "leagal" then to ski race with.

Fountain was bold enough in the early years to fashion a unique styling flair to set his apart from others, as for as measurements what difference does it make? People say, so he can charge more, thats a joke Fountains are very competitively priced, i don't think their the most, or the least, but comparable, as for as Reggie i can take or leave him, i don't have a picture of him hanging in my shop, i do feel that he has had a dominating presence in the offshore boat industry, and has left a mark on our passion we love, offshore boats. Oh and by the way i am proud to say i own a Fountain, i wear their shirts i have one of their hats and i even have a Fountain key chain, but then again i also have a Cigarette shirt an Apache shirt and a Powerquest shirt with a Scarab shirt or two somewhere, you see i love offshore boats and they all have their own personality, that my freinds is what makes the world go round and round and round.

Lets try to remember what this thread was about. I've owned Seebold's, Fountains, Sonics, American Offshore's, and Spectre's to name a few. I've enjoyed all of them in different ways very much. I just like boats, Lets keep up the fun and not take it personal. If someone built the perfect boat , boating would be boring!
