Best Hang Time Ever

Does this count?

This was in 05 and there was an apparent email that went with:

The accident occurred on Hartwell Lake, along the South Carolina/Georgia border. The accident involved a 38-foot Fountain go-fast costing around $375,000. The vessel owner/operator only had the boat about a week and had not even made the first payment. He was traveling at an estimated 80 mph when it made an uncommanded sharp turn. This resulted in he and his passenger being ejected from the boat. Since he did not have his kill switch lanyards attached, the vessel kept going, steadily accelerating until it hit the banked shore, went airborne and found a tree. The force of the impact split the hull. Neither of the vessel's occupants were wearing PFDs. Despite this, they survived - - miraculous.

Wow I've done that with a snow machine, (twice) looked pretty much the same but on a smaller scale, I'll try not do repeat with my boat!

I have seen these pics before in a couple of different stupid boater pic threads but never heard the story behind it. I would say the insurance co. would have laughed this one off because landyards were not used but was the cause of the uncommanded turn ever figured out? Nice to hear the people survived, My point is that the previous times I have seen this pic made the impression of the driver being an idiot. Not using lanyards is not the smartest choice & I would be guilty of that myself, after reading what happened I would lean more toward unfortunate accident. Nice to finally read the cause rather than the assumption. Randy

Just to stay on topic
The boat "Putt-Putt is" a Coyote, made in 1981. It was originally "Mr. Coyote." So I sincerely doubt it participated in any races in 1989.

I remember when this happened on Hartwell. I know of the guy, but don't actually know him. Herd he went right out and bought another one.
