Default Does this make any sense?

For a the last year I had no job, I had tons of money though. Now I have a job and am broke. Does that make any sense? Or am I seeing how life is?

I've been broke for as long as I've been working. Maybe I should quit so I can have money.

Welcome to life. The more I make, the less I have. (I'm also married, and I'm sure that contributes to the problem at hand.)
