Any of you guys ever boat on the Il river? where are some good places to go? Any good marinas to spend the night at? I have to go a little more south than wisconsin to catch some warm weather!!

How far South are you headed? There's several marina's in the Peoria area. Eastport has transient slips with shorepower and nice bath/laundry facilities. There's a Famous Daves restaurant there as well. Cross the river for dockside dining at Joes Crab Shack, Damons or Old Chicago Pizza.
Plus, it's fun to play "Dodge the Log" and "Is silt a suitable planing medium?"

The river is very pretty. Probably the most scenic area in northern Illinois. Stay away from the barges, the tugs turn up lots of logs. The locks can be a pain depending on the barge traffic. Ive been between Joliet and Starved Rock but never further south. Lots of little islands and areas off the channel to spend the night. From Chicago to Joliet its pretty uch an industrial canal. Not much in the way of scenery or stop offs.
