CAP071 05-22-2003 07:01 PM

Ok here goes my .02

I guess the board gods know of an AT that did roll? Why hasn't this Post been "POOF" yet? I placed a post about Homeless people in Key West that was on the World News CNN and yet they removed it.
So I ask the board gods Why is this post still on here other than the fact you also are getting your kicks from it! :D

I wonder If I go post a False Roll over about another boat company if they would leave it on here as well?

Or let me post about a cat. boat company that kills people because they sell really fast boats.

It's been days now Where is there Proof that an AT did roll?

Dredgeking 05-22-2003 08:26 PM

cap071,
i didn't know this thread was about AT's. hmmmm i must have missed that part. ;)

CAP071 05-22-2003 08:52 PM

A boat barrell rolled?

WHAT ? WHERE ? WHEN ? HOW ? WHY ? WHO?

:) :D ;) :p

Jassman 05-22-2003 09:02 PM

Just got home, read the thread. I find it funny the Same Guy-WATERSPEED-Marcus who started THUNDER BLUNDER a few months ago, is back at it again. Hey, if Kevin and his Thunder is giving you to much competition, so be it, but don't start false rumors, and then on top of it show a lack of concern for my safety or anyone else that was supposedly on my boat. If you had any class you would have have pm'd me. I called you last time like a gentlemen, because a few guys PM'd me and said you were a decent guy, I won't waste a dime on my time.

For the record Radio Active is at Total Marine and has been there since the Tic-Faw 200 Poker run, getting the trailer painted and all fluids changed. The boat has never rolled or porpoised:p and since the article it has been dialed in to perfection by Total Marine in Slidell.:D

PhantomChaos 05-22-2003 09:07 PM

this is all about cinnamon rolls and a barrel of monkeys, not boating! :D

Just Browsing 05-22-2003 09:18 PM

Hey Joey!

So what about the video? Can you post a link to the video of the spin, like the one you posted from Daytona?

Also, does anybody know if I can post an in-cockpit video from Freeze Frame without violating copy rights, etc. ?

cuda 05-22-2003 09:34 PM

Fred, I think anymore of your porno panty pics should be posted in the uncensored section.:)

mxz800 05-23-2003 07:11 AM

apparently there was an Active Thunder that rolled over in or near the Bodkin creek in Md. a few years ago. not sure of all the details but it sounded like it spun out and rolled. this is not first hand information but second hand.

we chose to be apart of todays racing. we are making a lot of effort to see it go in a positive direction...anyone can sit behind a computer and criticize the APBA/Mike A., Merc Racing, step hull manufactures, and racers of today all they want...but they really need to get up from the computer and be part of the solution. i don't doubt for one second that there is a ton of people in here that can provide knowledge to better this sport....

Joey,

Yes you chose to be part of todays racing. That is commendable. Do not forget however, that many members of this board, myself, T2x, Philip and many many others were doing what you are doing today some time ago. I left racing in the late 90's to move to what I feel is a more fun venue. Poker Runs. Many of the people that criticize as you said earlier, have been down this road with other sanctioning bodies, i.e. USO, SBI, OPT, HFC,etc etc. These people are speaking from a position of experience and have seen these same mistakes made in the past. I agree that knowledge is nothing unless you share it. I encourage you to retrace this board and look at all the information that has been shared here by T2x and others. He has made the mistakes and what are they worth if you do not learn from them. People like T2x and others have offered their view points and experiences, and recommendations for solutions, but unfortunately it is impossible to tell someone that knows everything, anything. Some here have heeded the advice of these individuals that have traveled this road and have been well rewarded for listening to the voice of experience. I encourage you to do the same.

As an aside, although racing is often built on personalities, arrogance will get no one anywhere. Sooner or later it all comes crashing down. Arrogance may get you attention in the short term, but in long run it serves no meaningful purpose other than to boost ones ego. It can be a difficult line to walk between being confident and challenging, and not appearing cocky and arrogant. Choose wisely. You have a powerful medium at your disposal in being a columnist. Use it, but repsect it.

Best Wishes,

Shane

The board gods have not killed this thread because Too Old's on a roll

Fred - YOU'RE KILLING ME! :D :D

waterspeed 05-23-2003 07:44 AM

Jassman....If you read my earlier post....I said that if any boat rolled, hopefully nobody was hurt. Additionally, I have re-contacted the "source", a non-racer, who's freind heard about a spin
-out..at a race and it was a well known "Thunder Boat" powerboat. Obviously, his friend equates a "spin out" to be a roll and all race boats to be "thunder boats"...There was a miscue in the translation (originating from a non-powerboater)....which usually occurs when you have several people involved.

Oh, by the way...Kevin was a good competitor, but never too much for us to handle! And he told me about how his boat rolled over in Pompano (without him on it).

To make a long story short, glad you and your boat are fine...and for that matter, that no boats have rolled recently.

If you believe that I have a lack of concern for you or any boater/racer....You are very wrong...

As I see it, this has turned into a pretty amusing thread..

T2x 05-23-2003 07:52 AM

Hey Marcus...... You little rumor monger:p

Are you coming to Skaterfest??? Bring the family..... we will be at Point Pleasant for a portion of the event and there are rides, a beach, a boardwalk........

Please try to make it...........

"People like T2x and others have offered their view points and experiences, and recommendations for solutions, but unfortunately it is impossible to tell someone that knows everything, anything"....i see your point...but have "people like T2x" really taken the time to talk with people like Mike A, Lee Mills, Tony E. @ Merc, the producers @Speed, basically the powers that be currently in offshore racing. i see a lot of bashing going on here toward the sport by people that have very little presence currently at the races. now i'm VERY sure if you bring good ideas to the table to the people listed above???...i'm sure they would be very receptive in learning how to grow their business. we are the product they are selling!

you really don't see too many current racers, manufactures, or officials getting involved in here. why is that???80 plus race boats in Marathon for a GREAT event!!...how many racers and crew is that?? our team personally had more that 50 spectators that came to see the races...i was told by some of the powers that be,,,,"joe, your just not going to win" ....but i do love controversy and chaos,,,,so here i am....but, before you judge me i really think you should met me in person....there is a lot of room for misinterpretation when online.

This must be the new and improved Audacity !! sort of like the new and improved Shane...

I guess when your the tech. editor of a power boat magazine you can't be your normal cocky self, bring back the old Audacity, at least he was more entertaining !!

Shane 05-23-2003 08:33 AM

Joey,

Maybe you should heed your own advice and get to know the people that you say are bashing the LLC etc. These people I assure you have tried time and again to further the sport we love but all to often it has fallen on deaf ears. You, as are most of us, are type - "A" personalities. We like to be in control and not be controlled. When you bring large quantities of these same personalities into one arena there is sure to be a lot of head butting going on. You have the young guns that are full of piss and vinegar, and the seasoned folks that have been down the road before, who btw, were once full of that same piss and vinegar some time ago. Look at how FEW if any people stay LONG term in this sport. Most move on to other things after a brief stint in offshore. There is obviously a big reason for that. However, in auto racing, most stay for years and years.

I agree that there have been many great strides made to improve the sport. However, it has a long way to go. Mistakes have been and will surely be made in the future. Remember, if you wish to be perceived as a professional, you must act like one and lead by example.

audacity 05-23-2003 09:14 AM

"fallen on deaf ears"...you mean to tell me that ideas that would have made someone more money were not well received? now if we are talking about racers that want something for nothing or a place to just go and race as hobby...you are most defiantly right.

"Remember, if you wish to be perceived as a professional, you must act like one and lead by example"...i think we are going in this direction...not because "I" think so...because of feedback from the APBA, Merc, DONZI, JDRF, our sponsors inside and out of the industry, Magazines, news papers, radio, TV, and the producers of Speed. we had over 50 some people come to watch the races and percentage of them paid for the VIP...going out and winning in marathon was not the number 1 priority we had or will ever have at any race. sorry if you and a few others here do not see our team or me as professional...

i have spent a lifetime of racing and being paid to do it in other venues. i remove emotion from the equation when i put a helmet on. the way i view racing may not be shared by others...so crashing in marathon was so overshadowed by all the things that went so well for us there. i am very proud of my team for what we have done and are working toward...the invite is always there to those that would like to come out to the races! including Tx2 and you Shane! CYA there!

audacity 05-23-2003 09:47 AM

it's funny only because i'm very used to people telling me i got lucky, was given something, bore a certain way, knew someone....yada yada yada...anything but hard work or determination. so bash on me some more if it makes you feel any better about yourself.

Allright,, this is just weird,,, somebody please stop by Joey's and find out who is using his computer.. Would the REAL Audacity please stand up ??

Shane 05-23-2003 09:58 AM

Joey,

No one doubts your dedication or perserverence. At least I do not. I just ask that you go back and read some of your "old" posts and keep in mind that perception is reality. Although your intended message may have been positive and filled with good intentions. Certainly, what has been perceived is far different. If I make it to a race this season or a poker run for that matter, and you are there, I would love the opportunity to sit and chat like gentlemen and friends, watch some bikini's and share a few laughs.

Try not to read into things to much and keep in mind that you go this way once, so make the most of it!

Fred,

You are still cracking me. Each time more and more.

SLINGSHOT 05-23-2003 10:18 AM

CAP071 05-23-2003 10:51 AM

When you get that new skeg put on call Hi-Perf 2000.
I hear he does test drives!

audacity 05-23-2003 11:05 AM

thanks shane...you are correct...perception does account for a lot here on OSO...this is exactly why most racers, officials, and manufactures stay away...sometimes ya just can't win...

just like i don't know how many times i have said that our results only reflect on us.only us...not any manufactures or rules! EVEN if we did finish and place well...there WERE mistakes that we made in set-up...every time those engines are fired we need to learn something...if not??? then it's not even worth turning the ignitions on!

shane i look forward to chat'n with ya at a race...just let me know when?

Pete B 05-23-2003 11:11 AM

joey,
in light of all the fun that has been posted, you are a good guy.
hope you have a fun and safe weekend, looking forward to the video. and seeing you in Savannah.

audacity 05-23-2003 11:17 AM

thanks pete!...yeah, i really like savannah!!! great venue...let's hope for some big water!!...hell,,, i wana do something...these past two races phil has had to work his ass off...at least he got to hold the flag in daytona after the work...in marathon he just got to hold a 6 gal pail and bail like a mad man at the end!!!LOL

Sydwayz 05-23-2003 11:25 AM

Best thread on OSO.

Joey,
I have not seen the video, nor was I there. Was the skeg that broke on the inside of your turn, or the outside of the turn?
(Which direction were you turning, Port, or SB, and which skeg broke, Port, or SB?)

T2x 05-23-2003 12:08 PM

Fred...... You are out of control...put the mouse down...and back slowly away from the computer......take a deep breath and exhale into a paper bag.....now again....one more time.....there now......isn't that better?

This is by far the funniest, most intense, sincere, thin skinned, redundant, original, frivolous, factual, emotional, thick headed, humbling, egotistical, brilliantly stupid thread I've seen on OSO.
All in all a pretty good effort.

Now it's time to leave Audacity alone.......if this continues it could do permanent damage.

T2x......drying the tears from his eyes and getting off the floor after falling down laughing at Too Old's creative forays.

I have a theory here that can back Joey up, potentially, I have been doing some animations here on paper, and I need to know which way the boat was turning, and which drive broke.

audacity 05-23-2003 12:24 PM

things are being sorted out right now...so no more talk about drives or boats till we can remove all speculation...lets get back to more entertaining things like bashing me!!!LOL

don't worry, i have so much permanent damage at this point in my life it just doesn't matter :D

Sean 05-23-2003 12:29 PM

This has been a most entertaining thread....

I give Joey alot of credit for sticking in here...most would have cringed and run away, but I guues that's what makes joey...well, joey...

good luck this season...and now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

btw...funny stuff fred!

Quiet Storm 05-23-2003 12:35 PM
