Seems that soon you will be able to head to you local Pontiac dealer and put your name on the list for a NEW Pontiac GTO comes standard loaded for about 33K with an auto trans or an optional 6-sp manual trans for 650 bucks. 350 HP engine LS1

It's built on the Australian GM platform from Holden (Holden is GM in Australia). Over there it is a REAL screamer. Seems the Australians are into HP also!! My company will be making much of the interior for the US version.

The Camaro / TA thing really has me bummed. My first car was a 1987 IROC Z 350 TPI. I love that car. A friend just bought a 96 'Z28 350 6spd. What a fun car. I heard they might bring them back in '05 or '06. Hope that's true. Kids are into the rice burners nowadays but to me there's no substitute for cubic inches :D :D

Well, I see the letters GTO in the triangle emblem, but nothing else even close to the real GTO's! A name does not make a car.

I too am sorry my generation has to wreck all fun car things with their Hyundais and crap.

My favorite "realistic" car is a 2002 Trans Am in Black with 10 speaker Monsoon stereo, Ram Air, 6spd with the Hurst Shifter and sport package. Mom has a 2000 Gold Firebird, we both were bummed when they stopped production...Just think, how does Chevy rate the Camaro vs the Vette, Camaro is made to look like crap next to the Vette, when the Mustang has no other Ford to compete with. I am now a GM fan even though they make the Cavalier and stopped production of the Camaro and Firebird :mad:

Why can't they build the 67-69 Camaro,throw an airbag in it ,power it with an economical fuel injected V8,and sell the damn thing.Same with any of the other muscle cars!I used to ride to school in a 65 GTO .That was a fine ride and I sure miss it!

I work at a Pontiac dealership and can't wait to see one of these!!! In the brochure the exterior color matches the interior highlights and the gauges. Looks...................different:confused:

Fred said it best..........My old 1970 GTO is rolling in its grave right now. (even the old converted Ventura............yea remember that monstrosity with the hood and GTO emblem, even looked better).

Shame of it is Ford is doing pretty good with the the Stang's, but Pontiac (and most of GM) are just stupid at times. You wonder who they paid for the design. The Vette and WS6 are the only things GM put on the road that get some respect these days.....

Give me 5 cans of Play-Doh, some Testors paint, 5days, and I'll get you a friggin GTO.

These car manufacturers need to give up on redesigns. They are ruining their foundations. The ONLY good one is the Ford GT. Why? BECAUSE IT LOOKS THE EXACT SAME. :D

Sorry, but the car in Organdoner's pics, does not deserve the GTO badge. It's pathetic, looks like a regular, run-of-the-mill rental car.

For the first 20k...then what happens? It will be beat by Cavaliers because it is in the shop every other day.

Those cavaliers do suck....Drivers Ed has them, 1st gear and 5500 will get you to about 20. :rolleyes: :(

The new GTO is a ok car for what it is, I feel that the car looks too much like a regular Grand Am. GM put a few nice touches on it but someone said it looks like a cross between a Catara and a hopped up Cavalier and I agree. I can also see how people who remember to old GTOs could be a little turned off by it. I feel that the 03 Mustang Cobra is a much better value for the dollar. The GTO is going to be around $33,000. Now, something is good or bad or comparison.... An 03 Mustang Cobra coupe with 390HP, 390LB/ft of torque, independent rear suspension and a beautiful supercharger makes for one kick @$$ ride. By the way the Cobra coupes price tag is $34,000. How do I know?? I have one, for another grand I can pull up to a new GTO, Corvette or most anything else GM could throw at me and blow their doors off....and if a Z06 or a Viper happens to pull up, i'll see them in the rear view mirror of the new FORD GT. Nice try GM but the Blue Oval Boys still got ya....

It looks like a repeat of what Buick did with the GS series. Slapped a GS emblem on a Regal...........take a close look at this thing...... (and now my 1971 GS455 is now talking to my old 70' GTO in side-by-side grave plots).

Lets get some RallyII's wheels on this thing, a RA set of intakes mid hood, and widen the front end. (and the good ol' enduro bumper)......AND PLEASE let there be REAL twin tip (not one plugged up like on the new GP) dual's.........

I would say a safe bet is that a young college grad designed this thing and has never seen or driven a real Muscle car! Where is John DeLorean when ya need him?

POOR effort on GMs part. Looks like a cross between a Cavalier and a Neon. Leave the GTO name off of that car, it doesn't deserve it.

Not a bad looking ride, but it aint no GTO, even by today's standards.

TheDealer is the man!! I could not put it any better. I have a 66 GTO that just rolled over in the grave for the pathetic display of what a 2004 GTO looks like. I also have a 69 Mach 1 that can not keep up to the new Stang but will run circles around most late model GM products. Sorry guys, Blue rules the street...
