It's been a long time since I started this thread, and my plans changed significantly. I decided to use a room with lots of windows as my home theater room. That meant plasma was a better choice. I'm waiting on the delivery truck with my new panasonic 50" HD plasma as I type.

I spent a lot of time at avs forum, and I agree you have to take everything with a grain of salt over there. I did get a great deal on the HD upgrade for my Directv system because of AVS. If anyone is planning an upgrade look here:
New HDTV Dish and Receiver ---->$99

Now I need to find some speakers. I've had a pair of Klipsch KG4's since the early 80's, and I really love them, but I'm looking to go with something a little more streamlined. Does anybody own the Klipsch Synergy floor speakers, like the sf-1, sf-2? How do you like them? Are they as good as my KG4s.

I'm also going to add a sub. Anybody try the HSU subs that are touted over at the avs forum.

Mike

If you're in the market to buy or sell anything go to:

www.videogon.com

They specialize in the buying and selling of new and used "highend" home theater equipment.

I'm not into home theater but I visit their sister site:

www.audiogon.com

It specializes in the buying and selling of new and used "highend" audio equipment which I am into.

Don't want to bum ya out but you guys are lagging on the DVR area. Dish Network is already shipping their HDTV DVR and I have three coming in next week

Allows me to record 23 hours of HDTV programming.

Anyone seen the Voom channels? www.voom.com

Mr Meineke of meineke muffler / Bass and meineke autoparts fame is a friend of our family's and has a home here in galveston, I'll see if I can get a picture of his theatre room. It is awesome. Mr Bass even has a theatre room on his yacht.
by the way the yacht was built by Don Aronow and is the largest real 'cigarette' ever built. Built at halter marine.

Soon and very soon. Will be out in first quarter. It has four tuners (two Sat tuners and two OTA tuners), will record 30 hours of HD broadcasts or something like 200 hours of standard broadcasts. Plus, it's a TiVo and actually has features. :P
