I agree, that' why I said "if they are interested in the marine end of things". I see that I misspelled marine and typed maine the first time.

Default Choices

The best news is you now have a choice of 2 very reliable engine brands.

The consumer wins!

Anyone know how Ford is coming with the 6.8L V-10 for the Marine Industry?

Haven't heard anything in several months.

We need more choices, better engines and lower prices.

This is all good news to me.

Hey Steet,

If 525 HP = 525HP, does 650HP = 650HP?

John Coen and I are running about the same speed with our 30' Superboat's, he has the 525 and I'm running the Vortech, hopefully soon we can get together and run with the same prop on the same day.

I heard their was a lot more done to that boat other than just an engine swap. I think the bottom was cleaned up, a lot of other factors probably went into the works..

Default HP = HP

I guess someone misread my post. I said 525 Hp is 525 HP all day long. I did not say that a 525EFI had the same power as a Vortech. Besides that, I believe that someone posted the 525EFI is rated at the prop. I also read a post here on OSO that the Vortech is 525 at the flywheel. I have not gone back and done a search, but I shall when I have more time. Later

And yes Doc, 650HP = 650HP (unless it is in a baja-then its actually only 525)he he he

can anyone take a little time and summarize the basics for me. Is GM simply getting into the marinizing bussiness? are the vortec engines the same base block as the latest generation of mercs? Or, is GM beating merc to the race products with the new block/displacement products?
