Lake Champlain 2003 Milk Run Pics & Stories!

Here are mine post them if you got them!

Thanks to all that showed up and even the ones that tried to make it.

Thanks to Tim from the Naked Turtle for all the hospitality. That place ROCKED on friday night best spot on the lake.

Thanks to OSO for being the tool that brought all those guys together.

There were twenty boats lots of people and speaking for myself I had never seen that many Performance Boats running together on the lake, it was a riot.
The sailboat regatta in 2 MPH winds outside of Burlington after the 2nd card stop never knew what hit them!!!

Now for the Fast Guys.
Start with Age before beauty.
T2x
He had the best quote of the day.
"what you think those blown guys are going to keep it to the pin for 80 miles!!!"

Airpacker.
Running a blackhawk drive with confidence. (He had a spare bravo in the back of the crew cab!!!)

Of course he couldn't fit any provision in that rig but he had stuff to barter for cheese omeletts, bacon & sausages Sunday morning.
Water was perfect for those rigs Flat all day just a little chop on the last leg. Those waters happen 1 day out of 10 around here.

This is Yves in the background in his Scarab 29/525SC and enough equipment to live on for about 6 month comfortably....

Airpacker.
His best quote.
"Well we fed the cat today."
After aspirating a seagull in the tunnel at 85 MPH.

Trailered 480 miles Friday from Toronto with a GMC crew cab he picked up Thursday night (the canadian way to break in a GMC!!!)
T2x in the background.

Forgot to mention that what you see on the right of the drive is what his left of Sean (Airpacker)'s starboard swim platform after he atempted a swan dive early saturday morning to shake out the Sam Adams from the friday night explorations

Well here we have a similar picture of what "the Doc" was running, sorry we did not get a shot of that nice rig. I think it is a '98 Eliminator 33 with 600CID 725 ft/# of torque Normally aspirated engines with extension boxes with, is everyone sitting down,,,Bravo drives:eek::eek::eek::eek:. When sterndrivespec heard that it was like fingernails on a blackboard!!!

John told us Friday night during dinner that he has obviously been thru a few shafts in those Bravo's.
I observed "just have to find a few more cavities to pay for those shafts!!!!":D
For dinner John had salt with wings sprinkled over it!

Very nice gentelmen, him and Airpacker talked at lenght about the finer points of tunning eliminator boats. However the salt must help cause Doc John was in great shape Saturday where Sean(Airpacker) looked a little rickled! (Doc John did go to bed 3 hours before Sean)

And the "V" that kept up with all those Cats at the front. This is either Ed (Scarab105)'s rig or his brother, I was told. These guys run some serious HP on those Scarab's they sounded MEAN at the first card stop then I think one of the two I heard lost a drive. But the one that was left was FAST. I'm looking forward to talking with you Ed when we can hook up.

GLH 08-03-2003 01:36 PM

Got to go watch the " Brickyard 400" I'll be back to post the rest of the stuff I got.

penbroke 08-03-2003 03:42 PM

Hey GLH,

Because of all the shortcuts we took trying to keep up we got some good photos. We should have some good video too but I haven't seen it yet. E-mail or PM me your contact info and I'll try to hook you up. (All us OSO freeloaders have lost PM, e-mail and even avatars.)

LMFAO! Well....I think Champ, the Lake Champlain Monster was hungry and I was his choice for lunch. :eureka: Looks like one of those birds never got out of the way or I hit something. Maybe a mooring bouy just below the surface?? Not really sure, but I DEFINITELY hit SOMETHING! There is about a 4 inch hole that then began to delaminate an 18 inch section of the bottom and but a really big ding/curl in th prop blade. Oh well. Hopefully the glass guys will be on it by Tuesday and it will be in running order by 1000 Islands! Thanks for a FANTASTIC time and all those guys that said "I'll be there, I'll be there", well you guys missed a GORGEOUS weather day and a GREAT group to run with. Nice meeting some new OSO friends and seeing some older friends as well. You did a great job GLH and THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

:)

That was one FAST vee bottom!!!! I could not believe he ran as fast as long as he did for as long as he did. Everything shook like an earthquake when that Scarab went by. Wicked cool ride and VERY IMPRESSIVE! I don't think the Lake George dikkhead cops would like him too much. I say, bring him down!!!:D Screw those jerk off cops!:p

(2) Mercury Extension Boxes (new 2001)
(1) M&M - Marine Machine Steering (new 2001)
Complete Transom Steering
Wing Plates
Transom Mount Cylinders
Tie Bar

(2) Gaffrig - Transmission Temperature Gauges (new 2001)
(1) Hugh - Custom Made - Center Trim Tab - Aerson Hydraulic Cylinder "Mercury Lake-X" (new 2001)
(2) Custom Made - Transom Style Water Pick-ups Stainless Steel - With Aero Quip Stainless Steel Hoses and Fittings "Mercury Lake-X" (new 2001)
(2) Jack Shaft Covers "Mercury Lake-X" (new 2001)
(2) Adjustable Water Pickups "Mercury Lake-X" (new 2001)

Someone ("DOC" ?) got a great boat at a good price!

GLH,thanks for the great weekend. It was absolutely worth the trailer down. Lake Champlain is really a beautiful lake for performance boating. Yes,Saturday morning was a little bit rough, but you're the one who kept us all out partying until 2:30 in the morning :). Sure I did eventually ingest ONE seagull but I dodged a hundered or more first (there's one hell of a lot of birds on that lake, several appear to have a death wish ;) ) Hangin with you and K-Lee,JS232 and Marie-Jose and Yves was a pleasure. You are all great folks. It was great finally being able to put some faces and names together. Heck,I even got to talk with the "Old man" himself (Hi Rich, sweet ride you have there) after he treated me to a drive by boat washing. Still can't believe he wouldn't wax it for me too ;)

As for camping gear, why bother,we Canadians have always been good at trading. If you ever do want to trailer up to Georgian bay, I promise I'll make you and JS and Yves breakfast.

Heres our host and JS this morning in all their culinary glory.

Another Chuck's 2003 Fountain 29 with a 525 EFI they ran good all day Charles and his wife were incredebile. They are from around Burlington met them earlier in the year when Chuck needed a boost at the ramp and I happened to be able to help. (Besides any grand parents taking the grand kids out on their Fountain deserve all the help the can get!!!! my kind of grand parents!)

Todd's 1992 Signature Edition FOuntain 35 with 509 CID's thing is fast. He got this rig last year and it looks like he's been rubbing it for a year and a half!!! That rig shines.

Todd was very controlled hanging with me on the secound leg at a measly for him 60 MPH...

He also helped spreading the word around the area for people who did not know about OSO so the locals would show up! Thanks for the help.

How the heck do you expect me to know what happens at the front when there is HUGE 6" water out there. All you guys with the light rigs ran by my beast like I was standing still...
Now if one year we get a strong South or North wind maybe then with 6' chop out there I might be better informed!!!!

Huge's quote of the day when he put in at the Peru city ramp beside a beautifull million dollar home and all of us where cranking our engines at 8:45 AM.
"Sucks to be him, I guess!"

Paul's 28 Scarab thing sounds mean.
I knew Paul had arrived when Shane called me saying they would be 15 min late because of a flat tire (Paul's)

It ran strong all day. Paul's quote of the day at the Essex gas dock was. "Man I'm use to running this thing hard but not full tilt all the way!"

Tom's Velocity another strong runner. He had that thing floored all day also!!!

His quote was. "I spent as much gas on this run as I have all year!!!". Tom's another one of those lucky guys that puts in the water 1-1/2 mile from the best spot on the Lake Thayer beach! No need for much gas to go 3 miles twice a weekend!!! He got the cobwebs out yesterday!

The nose of Dave's Checkmate is sticking out in the background.
