I like the new bolsters and the dash on the 42 posted by Tres. As for the rest, maybe the designs will grow on me. I like pushing the limits, but this may take some time to fully "appreciate".

Sean 11-04-2003 01:36 PM

can you say....train wreck...???

later 11-04-2003 01:38 PM

NOT FOR ME !!

clearcut3 11-04-2003 01:53 PM

I don't like them...I would take one for free :p ...then sell it and buy a TopGun or a 41 Apache:D

P5NAV 11-04-2003 01:54 PM

Older Cigarettes look better every day

WARPARTY36 11-04-2003 01:56 PM

It just seems like too much stuff can go wrong. With all of the electronics and little trinkets. You may need a Kevlar vest in rough water with all of the screws and such to pop out at you. I wonder how much testing has been done in extremely rough water?

SummerObsession 11-04-2003 01:58 PM

I love them because when I look at those pics, I know mine (2001 model-pre-video game) will be worth more money every day!:D :D

Panther 11-04-2003 02:00 PM

It looks like "Vinny Bag of Donuts" would buy it. To retro for me.

Horseplay 11-04-2003 02:03 PM

I agree that the helm design on the 46 looks like an arcade game. What really got me was the apparent lack of quality. The extensions were just tacked on, and the glass work was poor. At the prices Cigarette asks this was not acceptable.

As for the Maximus.....interesting, but dumb. Cig should stick to doing what they used to do best, making great offshore boats that DON'T BREAK!!

I had a chance to take a look at the Dragon over at Martin's. Clean, functional, and elegant best describe it. What an offshore boat should be IMO.

Indy 11-04-2003 02:04 PM

If I want to play a couple of pin ball machines, I'll go down to the local arcade.

If they want to innovate, remove the steps from the hull, that'll be innovative in today's market.

VelocityMark 11-04-2003 02:06 PM

Man thats uguly:eek:

stinger312 11-04-2003 02:24 PM

First Don Aronow.... then NE 188 st.... now the boats themselves...

spitfire1 11-04-2003 02:29 PM

Pretty brutal Fred..........

One Question

Has any one currently working at Cigarette ever actually been in offshore conditions at speed, or maybe it's just been too long ago. Unfortunately the only people who will seriously consider these boats are those who have little or no experience but plenty of money, they'll be in and out of the sport after one nightmare of a boat, never understanding what the real attraction is, pity.

CigDaze 11-04-2003 04:14 PM

I'm sorry. Those are two of the most un-ergonomical, thoughtless and unappealing helms I've ever seen on an offshore boat.

birdog 11-04-2003 04:30 PM

Looks like the talent has left Cigarette :(
The new 'dragon" is what cigs should evolve into :D :D
Maybe Martin or Lip-Ship will step in & help Cig with direction ?? :D :D

Sean 11-04-2003 04:42 PM

Truth is, I doubt that they're listening...When the Stealth boat came out last year the reviews were mixed at best, and to repeat that performance times 3 just proves my point.

Someone please tell me what they are hoping to achieve here, because I'm lost.

I agree with birdog and when Jackie started that last post, I expected to see something great...I seriously doubt Martin and Lipshutz have influenced these designs and would hope they would weigh in at Cigarette and tell them what the customer REALLY wants.

C'mon Cigarette...remember your roots. Build a rock solid boat that will run in anything...leave the digital navigation, redundant GPS/LORAN/Chart Plotters, etc to the fish boats...

And while your at it, build a fishboat...the 33 Open was a great boat and there's no question that the market exists for this type of boat...

Brad 11-04-2003 04:44 PM

I'm about 5'10' and I could not see over the console in the new Rough Rider.
I have my sites on the Dragon.

Can you imagine how long that crap would last with Tres or Phil on the throttles ????:D :D :D

Monke 11-04-2003 07:55 PM

Time to go play with the Dragon!!

Madcow 11-04-2003 08:10 PM

 One of the things that was always a constant about Cigarette was remaing true to their offshore heritage. It was always a boat for a true enthusiast. I don't even KNOW who these boats are for. Maybe queer eye for the strait boater?

105mph_38_2003 11-05-2003 03:04 AM

Not impressed at all...Somebody really dropped the ball on this one.

THRILLSEEKER 11-05-2003 06:46 AM

Maybe queer eye for the strait boater?
LMAO!:D

all I have to say is YUK!

THRILLSEEKER 11-05-2003 06:47 AM

:eureka:

Maybe they could put one of theese in the Miami New York Race and see how long it lasted:eek:

Formula Outlaw 11-05-2003 07:23 AM

When I want to dream about Cig's I just click on to "Lip Ship's" website. Now those are Cigarettes.

Phil will always keep the muscle and class in his designs.

That's what I was thinking...

I think they should go back to concentrating on the boats again and not the "marketing appeal;" Not trying to become the next Marlboro or Harly Davidson. I would hate to see one of the finest, most well-respected boats turn into what is shown above.

Yes, but unfortunately, his raw material comes from Cigarette.
How would you "remove" all the junk from one of these boats. Without a chainsaw, of course.:p ;)

When you build a new one, just don't order it with all of that stuff. You can still get it how you want. Someone else ordered all that extra BS on those new ones. Not my first choice either.

SummerObsession 11-05-2003 12:21 PM

True, but wouldn't the extra height of the helm still be there? Or is it added on instead of molded in?
Just curious, I haven't seen one in person yet.
