Thanks for the compliment, Warpaint.
The controls on the 18 footer are chrome-style Gaffrig duals. This boat still flat RIPS! Volvo AQ311 engine/drive with 307hp stock and a 290 outdrive. Bulletproof for 10 years with 65 mph all day. See the Sutphen group for more pics!

Here is another Sutphen, "Dollar Bill."

It is a bad pic, but I didn't want to take it out of the old album, shows you how old it is!

That was a 26 Sutphen "Rum Runner". Rides like a 30.

Biggus 12-30-2003 07:20 AM

Fred, I see you have been taking some heat for logging the most hours while boating in the garage :D

I`ve got a friend who has a 1983 30' Sutphen 'Ocean Pacer' He bought it new and it has less than 50 hrs on it! This boat is absolutely perfect and has NEVER been left outside overnight. The only time it`s seen the light of day is when on the extremely rare occasion that it actually gets used. (1996 I believe) good thing its inside because it`s all black gel. powered by 454/370`s with TRS drives. kind of a shame but he just enjoys looking at it along with his other toys.

The next time I`m down to Mass, I`ll take a few pics for this thread.

Great pics folks, love the classics!

I never thought a Sutphen thread would go so long. This has to be the best collection of Sutphen photos available in a single spot.

Fred,

I think it's still available..it's owner "spyguy" is very busy and is tough to get in touch with.....he checks in on the board once in awhile.....

I`ve got a bunch of pics of Inferno taken at the 1990 Newburyport Grand Prix, Newburyport, Massachusetts. I`ll try to scan them.

Sweeet!!! That's just like my old boat. Mine was a 1972 and I had it for 14 years (redid it twice).

Who can scan some pics of it for me?

pullmytrigger 12-30-2003 05:16 PM

Great thread Fred, just tuned in......someone was talking about the "Real McCoy" boat earlier......the owner Bob McCoy owns a cement company about 3 miles up the road from here.......he is my personal boating hero!!!!!.....his 39ft Sutphen is powered by twin 900SCs with number six drives and Bob is over 70 years old!!!!.......I hope Im doing that when I get to be his age......Bob ROCKS!!!!!!  :)

pullmytrigger 12-30-2003 05:18 PM

Oh and what in gods name is the guy doing in the background of post 252???????

dave911 12-30-2003 05:36 PM

I'm sure my friend Jamie would like you to think he's simply making a personal adjustment, but I think that was some type of supersoaking squirt gun. Bass Lake California, 2002.

We're looking to get the OffshoreOnly best picture collection of the year. HAHA. We haven't touched the surface yet.

I know we didn't waste all that money on film for nothing.

Here is another Sutphen.

Rippem 12-30-2003 08:24 PM

It was me about Bob...I'm just over the border in Watertown N.Y. Doesn't (didn't) Bob have more than one?...including the boat I spoke of with 750's and 6's that was over here at Hutchinson's in the Bay on brokerage? I may have misunderstood who's boat it was. It was showing like 50-60 hours on an alum trailer, all white with a simple single stripe. The drives were purple/or magenta? I think. Oh well...great thread! Love classic offshore!
