Reality is most of us get in a hotel for the evening - but the Reindl 28 Vamp does sleep three. We typically use the cabin for storage for all our water toys (the boat planes out at 15 mph or so) and one rockin stereo out of the view of theives. Below is a top view, with room for 5 seates. We are working on a pad for the back, as only 2-3 ladies currently fit on the bow.

parnell you gotta take that bet with the 28 cig just get some pro chargers bolt em on and the money you'll win will pay for them!!!... just remember to fill the front tank full and get someone who is not of, er, uh, your stature to drive so the boat wont list to starboard!!!!

Well, for a second there it looked like we may have a taker on the 10K bet, but then it looks like you're saying you don't have the boat anymore...easy to say this when there's nothing to back it up with.

Now keep in mind people, this is an actual offer...some of you guys must think your boats will outperform a batboat, don't you?? And to think that Saber had twins...the bet would still be on against the single engine batboat.

It's true the V-24 is pretty single purpose, although Reindl is chomping at the bit to build an open cockpit version for lake running...sort of the Porshce Boxster on the water.

The 28 is a five seat screaming machine...has all the amenities of most 28' offshore boats. Dale Babin's 28 actually has an LCD TV in the cabin with a DVD player. I've overnighted in the 28 many times with three people sleeping below deck and had no problems with room...most others in its' class won't actually sleep three people.

What some people forget is we run offshore boats for the joy...the fun...the challenge. I've run in quite a few offshore boats over the years, every chance I get I like checking out the other possibilities...in the end there is nothing that gives me the rush of running a 28. It's nice to see the eyes of someone running a 35-45' boat with twins or even triples as you smoke past them in 3-4'ers like they're sitting still...you can actually see them cussing you and banging the steering wheel.

I think someone out there should be jumping at the chance to run against one and put the money down on the table. As they say, the buck stops here!:D

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, who's gonna bring their 45 foot hustler/outerlimits/ apache/saber/ or whatever with about 3600 hp in four footers and finally put this to rest?

SS930 01-11-2004 05:23 PM

I'm not in on any of this, but why should it take a 45' boat to shut him up? Is there not a 28' that will run with these boats?

SABER28 01-11-2004 05:26 PM

lets use logic and common sense people, i really do not care if a batboat is faster than my SABER, i'll take that bet with a outerlimits/3600hp.

please if your going to b.s. people, at least make it somewhat believable:rolleyes:

That thing must fly with that power!

Yours is a 24, correct?

C_Spray 01-11-2004 07:19 PM

Don't know yet. I expect low 90's. Nope - It's a 28 - the real deal.

Does Saber have a website?

What is their yearly production numbers?

DITTO!!

Thanks for the cool stories about your race boat.

One thing to keep in mind guys....we are talking about some awesome boats that all have their own strengths.

Think about it...how silly do we sound comparing a 28 Pantera, Saber, Apache and Bat Boat. That right there is an awesome list!!

There was talk of Warlock, and I will throw in my limited .02 on them, I think they are fantastic F-1 boats. They always seem to dominate the GLSCS F-1 class. Fast fast boats....low to mid 80's in factory race setup. That is a rocket. I also THINK they have 7 stringers. Can anyone confirm or deny that for me?

Unless I am incorrect you own a 28 Saber...so why wouldn't you be up for taking my challenge. Same length boats, you'd have two engines...and if the hulls are all you say they are you shouldn't have any problem shutting me up yourself and taking 10K from me.

I've logged a lot of hours in quite a few different batboats...24's and 28's. I can tell you that in some pretty nasty rough water I've smoked boats that should have had no problem outrunning me. There's been many a Poker Runs (and I've run them all over the country) where people have approached me afterward completely dumbfounded at what they saw.

If you're not willing to take me up on my offer I think the least you should do is take me up on a demonstration of the boat. In no way am I insulting your Saber...they're great boats...but factually speaking, there's absolutely no way they can run with a batboat...no way, no how...and I think I'm standing here with 10K at stake to prove it.

Glass Dave did what he stated in a V-24 with a small block...a simple run-of-the-mill 350 horespower small block...nothing too fancy about that but man can they run in rough water.

see my post #157, did you not brag about passing 35-45 foot boats with twins and triples????

listen i really do not care how fast a batboat is or how well they handle in the rough, i do not care for the look of them. if they turn your crank fine. if they are so great how does any other manufacturer sell a single boat???

Warpaint....where in the heck are you? Chuck and these Bat Boats are offering to kick your but in "Apache" water. Dude, you gotta bring this thing to and end! This could be your first victim with the new power! Don't let us down now! I think we need a nice 20-25mph breeze up the bay and do a Turkey Point to Jelly Fish's cruise! You gotta put this thing to bed now!:D

BJM 01-11-2004 09:58 PM

I will run my new activator being built against warpaint from turkey point to Jellyfish joel's on any day this summer! I will be willing to bet a $1,000 or free drinks all day or anything else you would like to bet. Then we can share the results of what happened first hand between a 28 Apache and 27 Activator. Any other 28 footer is welcome to the challenge(1 or 2 motors, it don't matter) As long as it's rough I have no doubt about who will get there first.

This should stir things up alittle more!

WickedWon 01-12-2004 07:19 AM

Whirlygig, Welcome....But

Whoever the hell you are I'm afraid you don't understand how this board works, let me give you some tips ;)

#1 Exaggerate everything, facts are never good enough.

#2 Speeds, IT"S ALL ABOUT THE #! Never mention how the boat would barely get up on plane when geared for the BIG NUMBER... TMI !!! And everthing goes " mid 90's" GET IT !

#3 It's not about good boats that work well ITS ABOUT BRAND NAME RECOGNITION ! Remember, most people don't actually use these things at speed in Offshore conditions  THEY JUST TALK ABOUT IT TO NON BOATERS ! For that you simply need a BIG NAME, BIG # and WHATS HAPPENING TODAY GRAPHICS !

I hope this will preclude you from posting any more lengthy, accurate, informative, REAL experiences about performance boating  Maybe you could post a picture of your desk instead:rolleyes: You probably don't understand that last sentence, if you can figure out how to PM me please do.

Jim Deitz

C_Spray 01-12-2004 07:42 AM

Jim - ROTFLMAO! :D

Great, informative post - and SO, SO true.

Why don't we all try to get together somewhere this summer and have an OSO "28-foot rally"? This would give us a chance to run with each other for fun and get to know each other before having a big face-off. I'd be a bit concerned that if we all got together at Turkey Point for the first time, with all this testoterone floating around somebody might get hurt before we get to Jellyfish Joel's. (I have no doubts that someone WILL get hurt once we get there - anyone who's had a "PainInTheAss" or two will testify to that.) After all, this is supposed to be fun.....

Besides, if BJ's going to show up, I need time to line up JT to drive my boat. (I ain't worth a dam&...)

Hmm - sounds like this thread is more relevant to the "OSO Grudge Match" line of thinking....

Bob, i rise above Chuck Sprague every day all year long.My Apache drips on his big white Formula in the summer. He is below me on the rack at Tome's.:D

Bjm, i met up with you outside of Lloyds creek remember. We were all drifting around. When i started my boat you ran away like a little girl:p I do remember a hot blonde on the Activator that day,do you still own her:D ;)

BJM 01-12-2004 08:28 AM

Warpaint

I do remember floating around outside of Lloyds, but running away like a little girl? I sold that boat but I still have the blonde in my rotation! My new boat will be finished in the spring and my challenge will stand to anyone all summer! C-spray, bring it on! I ain't afraid of no stinkin Bat! I suggest to all who want to play to bring your helmets and Life jackets, cause that can be a nasty ride with 20mph winds. I will race for money, drinks ,dinner, *****es, or nothing at all. Whatever anybody wants.

Trim Tabs my boy Trim Tabs;)

I am not dumb enough to suggest that a 73 cig with 600 horse is going to outrun a bat even in rough water. 20 mph is a big lead. I appreciate cspray's attitude about his boat but I would caution Mr Offshore about any guarantee in offshore boating. Perhaps a bit too confident. :o

JM and JD where's "no excuses" when you need it?

BTW Post #112 is the bat boat even with a 28 pantera or is that just me.

I'm not making any predictions about winners, just providing some ancient history. MrOffshore and RAddiction are already doing WAY too much cheerleading for us superhero types. (I note that they haven't volunteered to ride along yet, though.) I'm trying to speak softly here, but there's no way I'm going to give away how big of a stick I might be carrying......:p

Warpaint - Your %$#@*!& boat defeated me a long time ago. You have no idea how many times I've banged and cut my head on your freaking skegs.....

BJ - I've seen you in action in F1. Impressive. Those Activators are tough. (Good "trash talk", too.)

"No Excuses" - W-o-w-w

bob 01-12-2004 11:09 AM

Warpaint, man I dunno! BJ's old boat didn't seem to run too bad. The boat's new owner ran with us for quite a while in Tome's poker run and we were cruisin in the 80's. Seemed to handle the water pretty well! Now if Ike and his 41 hadn't put all those Skaters in the weeds you would have been bak there with me to see it! You may want to follow Chucks lead and kinda do a "slow snuggle up" to BJ rather than just come right out kick his but. Besides it would be easier on the new motors! Keep your head up and your wallet open!

Wicked, that is one sick unit!

Chuck, i wanted to talk to you about that. One of my skegs has a nick in it.I am going to need your insurance info.

Bob, i will let Ike throttle my 28 to victory.I would do it but i want to prove to BJ that just about anyone driving my Apache could wail on an Activatorliner:eek: :D ;)

Ike has more seat time than i in the 28 so he is the better man for the job.I am not skeered honest:eek:  :D :D
