I am looking to do the same in my Sonic. Passengers sitting in the rear sit so low in the cockpit, basically staring into the back of the front seats, or into the cabin.

I just remembered this... Attwood ( www.attwoodmarine.com ) makes seats with shocks in the base. They claim to absorb something like 4 G's of impact. You might want to contact them to see if they can do something custom for you.

The ones I looked at for my little jetboat were about $1K each.

Can you put a price on your desire to use your own boat?

That's true, but I don't want to spend a ton. $1k doesn't sound horrible.
