9 years of ownership, 10 days of use, 3640 days in the shop being fixed. Been working on my house for 8 years. I can go into cruise and still finish in less time. Nort I built a house in the amount of time it took you to get some motors to run.... :D

CK(A) found out about the "cosmetic updates" now and likes. Of course there are things I left out for her (as a surprise later). Now she is just wondering when it will be done. :) I figure TWO WEEKS just like in the movie "Money Pit". By the way.....you have not finished that house OR the couple of trailer queens you have laying around. :lolhit::lolhit: |
Now who is hating on who!
I do miss the west coast weather! |
Hey Nort, the boat's looking good. But it's missing one thing: meatballs! Lol

Thanks Tank! They tested the LED installation last night. We've been going back and forth whether to install them on the boat, or on the backside of the cover......so we figured we should just try it. I like the effect. :drink: :drink: :D

Hi Nort!
First and foremost I read your thread with great interest..! Congratulations for the project...!!!! I am more than sure that once finished this will be the best example available on the market..!! I am also the owner of a Sunseeker Apache 45 (1995). I am based in the small island of Malta (South of Europe). I got the boat last year from France. My apache is propelled by 2 humble Volvo KAD 42s (230hp), way far from your tripple V8 installation.. However, given the fact that it tops 30knts and the price of fuel here in the EU, I am satisfied with the performance of the boat! (in the future I might be upgrading these...) Last October, I embarked on some restoration (very far from what you are doing).. One of the items which needed serious restoration were the helm panels... I did a very quick reseach on the internet and found a company: WWW.MARINEMARKS.COM. After a couple of e-mails I was convinced that they can do the job and decided to engage them to restore my panels. Naturally, I shipped them (begining of last December) the old panels which were installed on the boat.. This is now when the trouble began...!! They have promised to re-do them in 10days. In begining of January I asked them whether they were ready however I started getting excuses.. They have not responded anymore since mid-January so now I am left WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL PANELS so even if I have to enagage someone else, I still cannot do this without having the original templates.... These guys are ABSOLUTELY NIGHTMARE -I have sent them tons of e-mails and tried to call them BUT THEY NEVER REPLY NOR EVER PICK-UP THE PHONE... THEREFORE ANY ONE THINKING OF ENAGAGING THESE AND ESPECIALLY SENDING THEM THE ORIGINAL PANELS BEWARE - PLEASE THINK TWICE - AND GOOGLE "MARINE MARKS" You will surely get to more what they do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in need of some serious help!!!!! Do you by any chance have the old panels of your boat? or know someone who can send me new panels (presumably using your old panels as a template??? The gauges are different but I can send you all the measurements of my gauges. I also have photos of them before they were taken out of the boat. Thanks for your help!! Greetings from MALTA! |

Thanks for your post! That really SUCKS about your panels. There is actually a thread in OSO's Beware section about this company MarineMarks (Marine Marks). http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/b...stom-crap.html I am having the original panels refinished (again). Perhaps some OSO member could stop by Marine Mark and get your original panels....that would be awesome. Next best, make new ones using mine as a template? What panels did you send to them? All of them, or just the wood ones? As you can see.....the metal panels are already re-installed on mine, but the wood panels are still in process. |
Many thanks for your assistance! Much appreciated!
Yes it really sucks a lot !!! It's partly my fault since I did not search well on the internet... It was too late when I found the posts (including the one quoted by you) and the s**t about them.... My idea is to go for both options: If you have the contact details of someone who is realistically not far from his work shop - then it would be great to send someone to knock on his door and get everthing back.. I can pay all the costs incurred... The address is :MarineMarks 16208, Lone Cabin Dr., Wilwood MO 63005 With respect to the other option - yes if you can make me a new set of that would be fine... I looked at the pics and they look extremely professional.. Better go for this option as well in case it would not be possible to recoup the older ones.. I can send you all the measurement details which you need to make these (including photos with the gauges before they were taken off the boat) just let me know what you need and the cost for doing these... The metal panel was also shipped to them along with the wooden panels ..... In case its not possible to do this, I will try to this in Malta (assuming that it would not have been possible to recoup the original).. |

Great to see a restoration like this! Amazing job restoring a true classic. An inspiration that great boats should never die.
Fully modernized in over a hundred ways by a detail oriented and experienced captain. Better than new in to many ways to count. Thanks for sharing this. |
