Any explanation would be much appreciated.

So then is the Question, "which hull is easier to recover at speed?"
(as if there is much time to correct or get out of the Pins at 115MPH)

Same here. Lost a gearcase at 90. Boat never got out of had, just lost speed.

Isnt that sideways floating, or skating, where the name "skater" came from. Thats what i was told anyway. maybe T2x can verify this. I was in a 46 at over 150 that started "floating" a bit once. You felt it, but, it wasnt all that scary feeling.
I remember reading somewhere that John Tomlinson was throttling a 36 w/ big power once and it got so out of hand that he had to help steer the boat w/ the throttles to recover. Cant remember who was driving, but, it was at 150+.

I had a drive pop into nuetral somewhere between 105 and 106. The boat stayed straight and just slowed down. I was quite thankful

Ive been told time and time again that once you feel you're starting to go over, its too late, there is no recovery. never felt close enough myself to tell, and, dont want to.

came across this recently. is this where skater got the name?

The pond skater, or water strider, Gerris, is a predatory bug armed (as is usual with bugs) with piercing mouthparts. It glides over the water surface on the lookout for insect prey.

I would have to say it depends on who's driving the boat. :D
