If this is what Billy Frenz's association (NPBA) considers sanctioning (riding in the boat looking at a GPS).......then I would say OL's attempt is valid.....but is that really what they would consider "an officially sanctioned event"? Would anyone?

That OL run means nothing to me. The rule has always been in the past a average over a kilometer. I am sure that Regies boat was over the 161 mark at some point in their run. Also how did they average the MPH over a kilometer with gps? I am under the impresion that the run is in a trap not GPS. I am not trying to take anything away from either one of them it just seems like they are BOTH playing under their own rules.

Ive had a stray number pop up on my GPS a couple times. Faster than my boat can go by 5mph. Last time it happened my wife was driving so I have to live with her proof that she can get more speed out of the boat than I can. Ive also had some wild numbers pop up while idleing thru Chicago I suppose due to the signal bouncing. GPS is not perfect.
